Act with disbelief if someone were to say "My wife is pregnant, and she says she's a virgin", when your entire faith is based on someone saying that very thing 2000 years ago?

I'm not saying that Jesus wasn't born of Immaculate Conception, because that is not what I'm questioning. What I'm questioning is why true believers would not at least wonder if this is not the second coming you were promised, and instead automatically assume they have been sleeping around.

Justin, last I checked Immaculate Conception refers to the conception of Jesus without any human intervention. Mary was conceived and born naturally, having two parents who got naked.

Ok, let me rephrase the question a little because my lack of knowledge of the second coming is apparently limited to the fact that it is promised.

My question is basically, why is faith so strong in something that happened 2000 years ago, but if any of the happenings in the bible would be met with disbelief if someone claimed it happened today.

Jesus was born from a virgin by the power of God, but that doesn't mean that God makes other virgins pregnant. Jesus is coming again, but not the same way He came before. He will come again at the end of the world to sit in judgement and seperate those who gave their lives to Him from those who snubbed Him (See Revelation). Those who gave their lives to Him will receive a royal pardon for their sins, and pass into Heaven. Those who snubbed Him will be damned.

But I think perhaps this is not what your question meant. I think you gave a bad example, but what you actually meant to ask is...

Q: "Why do some Christians say that they believe in God, but when a miracle happens they refuse to believe?"

A: That's a very good question. So many Christians are so completely unused to the active power of the Holy Spirit that they don't even recognise it. I personally have seen many miracles of healing take place so I know what the Holy Spirit is capable of. I am part of a large group of Christians who take their faith seriously and are truely "On Fire" with the Holy Spirit, and as a result we frequently see miracles taking place. It really saddens me that many Christians are not like this. It saddens me that many Christians have been fooled by the world into believing that miracles don't take place.

the lack of understanding of that mythical story...immaculate conception...is amazing! The immaculate conception applied to the preganancy where Mary carried Jesus.

The second coming of Jesus has been heralded in so many ways, the cynical will have a real problem believing in a miraculous conception. He's done that...why not something different?

Because there was only one virgin conception and that was the one of Jesus into mary by God. there is no other. The second coming we are promised wilil not be a birth of a baby, but of Jesus Himself in all His Glory, just as He was when he left, will return for His Chruch/bride. Read your bible and you will learn.

That's a good question, and i've actually asked that one myself. I guess it that many people seem to think that Jesus can't or wouldn't do such a thing, and i guess that people forget that just because time as has changed, Jesus hasn't. He's still the same Jesus he was 2000 years ago.

Cute question, but the second coming isn't going to be through a mother. And with the state of sex education in our schools, it might not be surprising to think that the girl really thinks sheis a virgin.

Bless her

ITS ALL ABOUT FAITH, AND THATS MY PROBLEM WITH ORGANIZED RELIGION. I WAS RAISED CATHOLIC, AND WHATEVER THEY DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER FOR , THEY TELL YOU TO HAVE FAITH. THERE'S MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS WHICH MAKES ME WONDER IF THERE IS A BASIS FOR RELIGION, OR IS IT JUST A SCAM TO SEPERATE YOU FROM YOUR MONEY BY USING YOUR FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN AGAINST YOU. MANY GOOD THINGS ARE ACCOMPLISHED BY CHURCH GROUPS, BUT I PERSONALLY VIEW THIS AS A SOCIAL AGENDA RATHER THAN A RELIGIOUS ONE. THERE ISN'T ONE IOTA OF PROOF THAT ANYTHING IN THE BIBLE ACTUALLY HAPPENED. THE BIBLE WAS WRITTEN BY HUMANS,AND THAT ALONE MAKES IT SUSPECT.
