The state you live in doesn't matter for calculating federal withholding. Average is about 13%. If you make less, they take less, if you make more, they take more. You can contact a tax representative to help you calculate the amount you should have withheld to avoid paying a huge sum at the end of the year. If your company has a HR dept, they can probably help you, too.

Federal income tax rates vary by the amount of your taxable income regardless of where you live. The state tax rate for IL is 3%.

The same percentage for EVERY state, as it is FEDERAL tax.... Now, STATE tax would be different.
