I know Extra virgin is better for you, and is nice in dressings, but is it true only to fry in normal olive oil.
and which oil do you think is most healthy-as I have just bought some pure corn oil and pure soya oil.

ok unfortuantely people think that sunflower oil and olive oil is better than normal one. it is true that these are better for health but only IF NOT HEATED (example if not used in frying or to cook with it) if you use these for cooking you are like using normal one! because when heated the oil (every type) has the same abd effects, same! Olive ol will give you some taste of olives if you like, that is why it is used in cooking, not for health reasons.

Olive oil isn't ideal for frying as such - it hydrogenates in high heat and turns nasty. Also its smoke point is not very high. In addition to that, extra virgin is very expensive for frying purposes, and a waste of money - you can use it for cooking, but you're better off saving it for something like dressings where you can appreciate the flavour.

Corn, groundnut, sunflower and soya are all OK for frying and general use, but if you want something particularly healthy to fry with, try avocado oil - it's rich in Omegas, has a nice taste, and stands high heat well.

I fry chicken strips in olive oil all the time but you have to be careful because olive oil does not heat up as well as other oils like vegetable. If it gets too hot it will break down. You need to keep the heat fairly low and I usually keep adding oil to the pan as I go to replace what is absorbed by the food.

Having said all that I can assure you that foods fried in olive oil will taste much better and be much more heart healthy than foods fried in vegetable or animal fat oils.

I have never heard that being any kind of problem with extra virgin olive oil or olive oil in particular. Extra virgin is just a name applied to the very first pressing of the olives to extract the oil and it is the most costly too.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil has a low smoke point. Just add a bit of butter to the oil and the smoke point rises.
Use regular Olive oil for cooking with heat, Extra Virgin for the taste in raw foods!

......Virgin olive oil is called virgin, because it is the oil produced from the very first pressing. So it's a waste of money using it to fry with. Either use vegetable oil, corn oil or if you want to use olive oil just use one that's not virgin.

Extra virgin s a bit thin to fry in, and gets to hot to fast, burning the oil,,,,the best to fry in,, in my opinion is peanut oil,,2nd best is canola, as it is a bit cheaper. Olive oil is best for salads.

Olive oil burns easily at high temperatures, vegetable oil stands heat better for frying.

Olive oil has a lower burn temperature. So it's not great for frying. But it can be done if you watch it closely and keep the temperature lower. Other oils have a higher burn temperature so they're easier to fry with.
