Quechua is a language spoken in parts of South America.
No, languages do not have to have writing. An interesting
one I read about is Burushaski, a native language
of the Hunza area of Pakistan, which, AFIK, has
never been written. It is a true "isolate".

Quechua was the official language of the Inca Empire an is a native language spoken in Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina and Chile.

Languages do need writing because they are based on a series of symbols in order to trasmit ideas.

quecha is a language.
i think it is the native peruvian language
before the spaniards came
i had a brochure on it from my son.
languages do not have to be written
some are strictly oral
though most have had a written form created by now.
