American engineers already design the cars. They are simply built elsewhere. I don't know that it is the foreign builders that are producing shoddy equipment and cars as much as it is the American engineers who do not focus more effort on long term reliability and quality.

Plus, the company executives need to be more responsible in the direction of the manufacturer and be more willing to implement car designs that appeal to more people. Toyota is successful because you can go from the smallest of hybrids to the largest of SUV's whereas Ford's lineup is mediocre at best.

IF they would somehow get away from the stranglehold that the union has on them-Then they could focus on providing a quality product for a reasonable price!!!

Absolutely, with vehicles that no one could afford to buy. Which would lead to bankruptcy.
