You tell them how you feel without using words. Use jestures do nice things. You can ask them questions like "have you ever been in a relationship with someone and after it ended you still had feelings for them.' Don't make it too obvious. If he still cares all you have to do is listen and he will tell you. Don't look for words cause you may not get them. Who knows maybe he feels the same way.

I'm assuming in this case that you're talking about someone that you have developed a crush on, and you feel like he/she "likes" you, but you're not sure if you're both on the same wavelength. If it's someone you've been seeing out somewhere and you've developed a rapport of talking, then maybe ask him/her if they'd like to go to lunch sometime, or have a drink after work or whatever the circumstance is. If they accept, then you should get a better understanding of how they feel. If they don't accept for whatever reason, that doesn't necessarily mean they don't like you, but after that point, leave it up to them to then ask you. If a person really likes you, and you've opened it up like that, they will ask you to lunch or whatever when it's convenient. If it never comes up, it's most likely a pal.

Be honest with them and yourself. Tell them how you feel. You are never going to know if they feel the same way or not if you don't tell them how you feel.
Yeah, it hurts if they don't end up feeling the same way, but it's better to find out how they feel then to spend the rest of your life wondering what if.
