I would have to ask if you're talking about Romantic love or love in another sense. In either case, love is love. If you love the person and they don't love you, that doesn't mean you don't actually love them, but it's possible it's not "true" love. In other words, you shouldn't keep pursuing the person and dreaming over them and trying to persuade them how loveable you are in hopes of changing their mind. That will not happen.

If you love someone like a friend, that isn't really loveable and doesn't reciprocate that love, then you just have a kind heart and shouldn't stop loving them, but don't let yourself be abused.

Hope this helps.

love....is unselfish, it cares about the other person and ONLY about the other person. All a person truly in love wants to do is to love their partner the best they can. Make their partner as happy as they can. Make sure their partner never cries a tear in their life as long as it's tears of joy. True love will love even if no love is returned. So to answer your question, no love does not have to be reciprocative. When the need for reciprocation arises that is selfishness that is surfacing and true love is never selfish.

There is nothing better than to love and be loved in return. But there is a thing as unconditional love where your love is giving without reciprocation and you continue to love that person..More like if you are a believer in
God he loves us and the vast majority don't even recognize his existence. It takes a strong unselfish person to love some one that doesn't love them

TO BE HONEST ..NO , BUT IT DOESNT LAST IF IT'S NOT ........I KNOW PEOPLE WHO ARE STILL IN LOVE WITH PEOPLE , EVEN THOUGH THEY DO NOT RETURN THE LOVE.......YOU CANT MAKE SOMEONE FEEL SOMETHING LIKE THAT..IT HAS TO BE A NATURAL THING......LOVE IS NOT A TAKE AND GIVE THING..THATS A MARRIAGE...LOVE IS A GIVE THING , YOU JUST CANT HELP IT....THE PERSON COULD TREAT YOU LIKE GARBAGE , AND YOU WOULD STILL GO ON LOVING THEM , DOING THINGS FOR THEM OUT OF LOVE , AND CARING ABOUT AND FOR THEM WITHOUT FAIL.THATS TRUE LOVE......IT NEEDS NO REARRANGING , COMPROMISING , OR CHANGING IN ANY WAY....WHEN YOU'RE TRULY IN LOVE , NO ONE ELSE IN THIS WORLD WILL MEAN AS MUCH TO YOU AS THAT PERSON....YOU ARE VIRTUALLY UNDER A SPELL , AND THERE IS NO HOPE FOR YOU AT ALL...YOU ARE DEDICATED TO THAT PERSON WHETHER THEY RETURN IT OR NOT....TRUE LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL....SO AGAIN , I SAY NO.....GOOD LUCK.....GR1M

it does if u want a Relationship.... u can love someone, but if they don't love u back, ur pretty much screwed. u are putting urself in the position to be taken advantage of, taken for granted, treated badly, unappreciative etc etc......

everyone here answered "yes of course", but do u know how many people suffer in relationships/marriages each day??? they are either physically, verbally, or mentally abused. the thing is, love is one thing. but u have to DO something w/ that love; it should help motivate you to Be Better, Improve Yourself, and Help Your Partner... u have to use it for something Healthy and Positive in ur life; ur partner "should" do the same, and then you can appreciate each other doing Right by eachother.

love is one of the things that helps u treat someone well. also involved is respect, responsibility, hard work, care, and u have to make sure you Deserve someone's respect and love, as well as make sure you Give someone respect and love. it is a two way street, and u have to keep urself accountable (if u don't, ur partner is gonna complain!), ur partner has to keep herself accountable (if she doesn't, ur gonna complain!), and then u keep each other accountable, together as a team.

Good luck to us all ! :)

Yes. My definition of true love is knowing someone so well that you hate them. Once you get over that , you love them for being imperfect. It's impossible for you to get to know someone who is not interested in you...that person will never be totally honest with you. Love is not a noun, it's a verb. So there has to be action from both sides- it's an active feeling.

Not in all cases. Unconditional love does not. How many mothers do you know that love their kids no matter what they do to them?

In a relationship, yes, love does need to flow both ways.

Of course me laddie. If it's one-way then the other party is two-way (reciprocating) elsewhere!

In order to do what?

If I show someone love, it's not requred. However, if you continue to love someone and nothing is reciprocatived, you really need to talk to them.

If you wanted to have a relationship with a blank wall, you could.
