All Atheists believe some Christians hate them because they think that they are intolerant of their non-belief system but in God's eyes there is no such thing as an atheist but sinners who have rejected him and want to continue in sin. God and his followers will always have compassion for the lost.

I am a Christian and do not hate Atheists. I don't believe any of them do IF they are truly a Christian. The Bible says that if you hate your brother, (mankind), you are a murderer, and no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. Christ teaches love, you love the sinner and hate the sin. It is not the individual God nor Christians hate, it is the sin. I do hate the attitudes of some and what they stand for, and I believe it's fair to say that some Atheists do with Christians as well. If someone says they hate Atheists and "claim" to be a Christian, their "claim" is false, unless they were speaking out of anger which we all say things from time to time depending on our emotions which we don't really mean. Peace.

As a Christian, I do not hate atheists, I pray for them. I hope that one day they will find the truth. Looking at life from a purely scientific perspective in that the simplest explanation is usually the right one, isn't it easier to believe that God created the Earth than in the unlikely possibility that all of circumstances needed for life just happened on their own. There are so many things that need to be for us to live on Earth (i.e. proper distance from the sun, nitrogen/oxygen atmosphere, just the right amount of water, etc.) That is why I believe we were put here, but I don't hate someone because they don't share that opinion.

Not all Christians hate Atheists, but those who do, do so because deep down they are not confident in their beliefs. Deep down, they fear atheists may have some truth in their ideas, and since they don't want to question themselves or have their ideas changed (specially when they have invested so many time of their lives in their religion), they reject atheists altogether. It's a psychological defense mechanism that's common in close-minded people.
This is not akin to fundamentalist christians only, but to all sorts of close-minded, insecure people, of many ideologies and religions that are not willing to accept new ideas.

Once again a very large generalization. *Most* real christians don't hate atheists.... well at least they shouldn't. They may not like atheism, may wish that atheist would become theists and may not like or become defensive when atheists use abusive agruments.... Hmm that sorta goes both ways and applies to other multi-sided discussions.

I don't know if "hate" is the right word; but the theists have a lot invested in their faith, since it grants them the special status of being the favored of all their god's creations, and the whole reason the very universe exists. It's a tenuous belief without a lot of evidence to support it; they know this, and it's a blow to their ego when someone else examines the same evidence and doesn't come to the same conclusion (that their existence is somehow special and makes life worth living). The atheists threaten to burst that protective bubble of "specialness", and the theists would like them to go away or join them in their delusion.

Many of my friends and even my daughter are Christians and they certainly don't hate me. Most of the folks that show up blasting atheists haven't even looked in a dictionary to know what one is.
