This is a good question as I have served in the British Army myself, by the way, good on you to show our flag, the best in the world.

I think Winston Churchill would be furious at the terrorist attacks on Britain and our allies, and would probably been a better spokesman for the British people against the terrorists. No doubt he would have, and this is my own personal opinion, that he would have done a better job at rooting out the terrorists than the efforts of Bush and Blair.

He had military genious, an ancestry of complete British success, and he was an inspirer to the British People. His rousing speach at the Battle of Britain, made this island invincible,(to a degree that is. I think he would have got the right people into the coalition and who knows, might have avoided conflict at all. All he would have done is, I think, remove Haddam Hassain and pull our troops out replacing them with a temporary U.N. Peace Keeping Force.

His rousing speaches would give the British and their allies a belief in what was right and just to do. And carried it through.

I think we have been brainwashed by a huge propaganda machine into thinking that this man was the 'godfather of the world' or something. So he made a few eloquent speeches - I think Tony Blair is a better orator than he was.

Frankly I dont think Winston Churchill, Thatcher or any post war premier would have done anything different to Blair on the war on terror. There are 'certain realities' that British prime ministers must observe when dealing with the US.

As someone before said, Churchill would have seen this coming 20 years ago and would have tried to nip it in the bud.

But just like in the years before WW2 when he warned of the rise of the Nazis, and the liberals denounced him as a war monger and therefore sleepwalked into the bloodiest war in history, liberals today would have shouted him down and called him names.

Did anyone know that the peace at any price marches which took place before WW2 were several times the size of the Anti Iraq war marches of this decade?

Winston Churchill led the nation in a war against Nazi Germany. He would have struggled to understand how to fight a war against an abstract noun...

The problem of comparing the "war on terror" with WWII is that WWII ended with the surrenders of soveriegn nations. There is no Berlin to invade here, no country of Terristria to defeat. There are lots of people spread out across the globe who know that the US will comletely and willingly absolve itself of the freedom that the terrorists so dispise out of fear.

What would FDR say about that fear?

I believe he would have been as forward thinking and raising the warning flags early on, just as he did with the German buildup. Of course today just as back then they would have thought him a crackpot. Funny how history repeats itself.
