A white buffalo is simply the result of an offspring getting two (or more) recessive genes from it's parents.
The chances are one in a million in the wild where the pairings are primarily by chance. On a farm you have your herd of females (all are usually closely related) and you put one bull out with them for a time to gt your calves.
If it happened once, that was remarkable, all the following ones are not that surprising since the females and males are so closely related and the number of calves produced on a farm annually.
It's still neat, and I hope they try to identify the bulls and heifers that carry the recessive genes required for white offspring and try to produce a herd of all white buffaloes.
Oh, and maybe their legends talk more specifically of a time when man is capable of selective breeding to make a recurrence of white buffalo possible as a precursor to a time of unity (I'm a Christian and don't believe their legends, but I have a Native American ancestor or two).
