Well do you want to grow the plants or just combine the loose tea for a present? It is easy to go to the health food store and get the loose tea leaves, shredded. You can use several different ones and combine them, although be wary that they may be bitter. Chamoile, pae-da-arco, horehound, mint. Find out what each one does, and experiment at home. If you have a peroculator, then put some of each in there and sample. If not, use your coffee pot with a filter, or a tea ball in a tea kettle. If you want to give it as a present I would wrap it in a coffee filter tied, then in pretty material with a bow on it. Or in a jar.

First you get a tea plant ...

Seriously, your question is unclear ... do you want to make your own blend? Or perhaps you simply want to brew tea without bags?

Please clarify.

OK ... there's a copyrighted story at the following address (so I'm hesitant to copy its contents here in part or in whole). Scroll to the end for the section on tea. It contains some information on blending your own tea, including a book on the subject.

This sounds like a cool idea - homemade gifts are the very best. I hope the recipients of your Christmas gifts will appreciate your gifts!

yes you can and you don't even have to dry the leaves! I make eppermint tea all the time! or spearmint! Just take some leaves off of any mint plant. Spearmint or peppermint. Whatever. Pick a few of those and put them into a container with hot water and honey. Close the lid and let it sit. The lid will pop up and off later and your tea is ready! Use a container like and empty honey containter that dosn't have a screw on lid. there you go hot mint tea in minutes!

Sure. Especially herbal teas. Tea is just dried up leaves steeped in hot water.

Mint is very easy to grow and makes a wonderfully refreshing tea.

As for the plant used in traditional dark leaf tea, your ability to grow it depends on the climate you live in.

I drink tea bag teas and my mother is from taiwan and she drinks this tea that is the straight herb. There is def no problem with it. I drink ginseng tea and grean tea while she drinks cofee and jasmine teas. She buys it already dried out and I am assuming she makes it the same way she makes coffee. But there are no bags with her teas. it just looks like dried out leaves. But not like those from regular tree leaves because those dry up and crumble. These dry out and still hold substanance.

sure, a really good one is simply to grow mint, then when its full grown you cut them at the base of the stems and hang them up to dry, once they're dry you pick the leaves off and you have mint tea. There are other herbs and flowers in woods depending on where you are that are good too. Chamomile or wild thyme are too good ones, so is rose bud, but you have to know how to identify them.

You don't have to make it. It would take you too much time to dry up the tea leaf right.

Just go to a chinese supermarket, they will have fresh tea leaf for you.

In my village we have a way of making our own local tea, but before you can do it you will need to plant the grass first, we call it tea grass.
