He's trying out his teeth. Just give him a sharp whack on the rump. It worked on my Stimpy.....

I have a cat that was very aggressive and would bite a lot as a kitten. Now he's 6 yrs old and we have issues with him biting. We actually had to hire someone to come to our house and teach out how to deal with the biting because we were expecting a baby, but love our cat and didn't want to give him up. Plus, we know how to handle him and nobody else does/would. The lesson we learned is to nip the biting in the bud, playful or not. Never play with a cat with your hand and let them bite it, that's a big no no. The main thing that has helped us with the biting is a spray can of air (the kind you use to clean electronics). Then the cat bites, you give them a spray with it and shout NO! It was startle them and over time all you'll need to do is just reach for the can and they will stop. It has worked wonders for us, and if we could go back in time we would've nipped the playful kitten biting in the bud a long time ago.

My cat (now almost 20) was a Tazmanian devil as a kitten. She played so rough, bit, scratched, etc.
I did two things. 1) Whenever she bit skin, I just quit playing with her. That's it. Just walked away. Of course, she wanted to play 24/7, so she soon learned if she bit my skin, she didn't have a playmate. 2) I would wear a sweatshirt and pull the cuff and end of sleeve over my fist, then play with her. She could scratch and bite all she wanted, as long as the sweatshirt was on.
Kitties are very smart. She learned very quickly that sweatshirt time was playtime and if she bit or clawed my open skin I wouldn't pet her. As she got out of the kitten stage, she didn't bite me anymore even with the sweatshirt on. They get their adult teeth around six months of age, so after those teeth are in most of them stop anyway.

Just like a baby human, your kitten is teething and needs to bite on things. Also he/she does not have any concept that he is hurting you. When play turns to biting, redirect him to a different game or find something its okay for him to bite on and play a game with him with that item instead. It is a short stage - in a few weeks he will stop doing this.

kittens, like puppies, tend to bite to sooth their teething. the only thing that i have found that works for this is to act like their mom would when this happens. ever notice when cats don't like something they smack each other? that's what you need to do. just lightly tap the kitten on the forehead with the flat of your hand. not hard, you don't want to hurt him. that's what his mom would do if she's had enough. you should do the same. i have a kitten who used to do the same thing. i swore he was a demon cat. but after doing this EVERY time, he's stopped doing it, and is quite a lover.

he's playing you must teach your kitten that bitting people is unacceptable, when playing with him have a toy near by and when he goes to bite you stick the toy in his mouth. if he continues grab the back of his neck firmly but gently and tell him NO! and then end the play session. leave him alone for a while even if he follows you pay no attention to him for about 15 mins and then you can try again.

Keep a water pistol handy. Whenever he bites, squirt him. He will quickly learn that he will get wet if he bites and cats hate that. Have you had him neutered yet? That should settle him down, too.

Cats hate water, use a spray bottle to correct bad behavior in a cat. The stream function works better than the wide angle spray.

You might try keeping a spray bottle with water in it, and whenever he begins trying to bite you, give him a good squirt. Most cats hate water, so it's likely to deter him.
