Not really much to write home about. The water is nasty pretty much everywhere and it's just an overrated, overpriced hangout for Savannah's old money elite, and the neighboring soldiers. Your best bet would be to go to Hilton Head just up the road a taste in SC, or if you really want to see some beautiful beaches on the Georgia coast, check out St.Simon's Island, and Jekyll Island. Less crowded, cleaner beaches, cheaper eats and shopping, and less hype. More seashells too.

The beach... just walk the beach, it's lovely.

On the island, there really isn't THAT much to do.
There's this buffet called "Cap'n Cris'" or something like that... avoid it... please take my word on that, *LOL*...

There are a couple of nice touristy-trap souvenir places that are quite affordable, and I vaguely remember one nice restaurant with a 2nd-floor ocean view.
(When we were there, we got to see dolphins, quite a treat...)

Umm... wish I could remember more. People are nice though, it's a great place to visit. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Note: Hilton Head is full of yuppies and Hummers. If I wanted that, then I'd go to the beaches in Connecticut.
