Try the followig will restore your original config
Use xp disk as you would to do a normal install at the instalation screen pick repair windows leave file system as it is this will re install windows but leave your files as they are on the computer
all that will not be available are any updates that you installed due to your windows being back to its original install DONOT pick the change file system or your drive will be auto formatted that is a clean install that destoys all on the hard drive you will still need your serial number to reinstall

It sounds like MSN Messenger you're seeing - is that correct? I'm going to assume you're running XP on a fairly new PC.

You should be able to right click the Messenger icon in the system tray (bottom right of the PC screen, next to the clock) then go to Options, then untick Load MSN Messenger to load on startup.

Failing that, go to Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and find MSN Messenger in the list (depending on your PC setup it will either be in the Programs list, or in the Windows Components tab). Then click on Uninstall.

Take these steps slowly - but if it is MSN Messenger, you can make it disappear forever with a few easy steps!

Good luck.

It heavily depends on what type of computer and how old it is, during startup some computers will have the option to press some key and start a system restore, others will have come with a disk that is the restore. Just run those and follow the on screen instructions to reset the system back to original settings. If your system is a custom made or non name brand system, you will probably have to reinstall windows to reset it back. Either way, however, you will lose all of your files and presonal info probably. So if you can try to back up anything you want to kepp before you do this. Good Luck

I really can't figure out what you are talking about with the "box of msn content" you have popping up. To reboot your computer, go to Start-->Shut Down then click on Restart.

Sounds like you are having a problem with msn messenger.
Delete this by doing the following:-
click on start, then control panel then add and remove programs.
highlight the msn program and select remove. if you see any other programs you do not need highlight them and remove them.

you could do a reinstall, but before you do, do this, when the box appears do ctrl+alt+del and see if you can find the name of the program thats creating the box, try and end the task or end the process tree, if that gets rid of the box, locate the file bringing up the box and delete it
