For as long as I can remember, I've heard steps inside my head. Like footsteps walkng upstairs. It disappeared for a few years, but then it came back, louder than ever. Sometimes I hear voices too. The voices I've heard since I was about 10 or 11, so I'm used to them now. But sometimes the steps get so loud I can't sleep at night. I can't talk to anyone because I'm at school and the school psychiatrist is full of BS, I've already spoken to her, and she doesn't listen. What can I do?
This is not a joke or a game, I'm not saying this to make fun of anyone else, so please no rude comments.

Sounds like Schizophrenia to me. But I'm a relative laymen. You should seek real help outside of school. Consult your general practitioner first, they should be able to set you up with a psychiatrist.

Maybe it is something that you "think you hear" when you nervous or stressed? Do you find yourself hearing things at times that you are feeling pressured or afraid? If it really isnt hurting you though, no need to be too worried. As for sleeping at night, take a pm medicane that will help ease you into sleep. It might be something that you need to talk to a psych about. Thats too bad your school scyhiatrist isnt helping you. Seek further attention. Good luck.

If the voices are scary and mean...you could have schizophrenia. As for that go talk to a doctor, you can get a cure. And if the voices are giving you commands, then go to a Doctor sooner, and most importantly you are not crazy, and don't listen to anything the voices tell you!

This is evidence of schizophrenia, but it may not be. If the voices are nasty and critical and give you commands, then it probably is schizophrenia. You need medication of some kind. There are many different psychiatrists and clinics to choose from. Just keep looking until you find one you click with.

Are the voices clear verbal speach or more like tones and squeaks? Are the footsteps clear or more like thumping and pusling? You could have an inner ear disorder.

If you do hear footsteps and talking......that is a job for a REAL psychologist..(forget those school chumps...they always suck.)

have you ever considered that maybe you are like john edwards and that other woman, they are medians, theres' actually alot of them out there i have seen, heard and been told.. but the dead can communicate with them.. maybe thats your case too.. you should find a way to meet with one of them or a few of them and see if they have similar symptoms.. it doesnt really sound like you've crossed over into crazytown just yet.. the mind can play games with you, so don;t fret about it just yet.. there is an answer to everything... you just have to figure this one out for yourself, a psychiatrist obviously isnt YOUR answer. Goodluck! =)

Your ears are in your head so it's natural to hear things there. But really, you already have the answer. You're just not letting yourself get to it.
