Hardly. We know beyond any plausible doubt that we're a species of animal, the product of evolution, related to all other animals by common descent, and we've known this for well over 100 years, but millions of people still deny it. If they can deny that, they can deny anything.

Disappear, I'm not sure, but it would definitely put a stopper in a lot of the self righteous, we know everything attitude of many. Truth is, it would shock and in some cases probably cause an increase in suicide and violence among the faiths. Also, on the notion that it would not make a difference because God would have created them too, there's a bit of a problem with that because many evangelicals believe only man was created as an itelligent self aware being, so if intelligence beyond earth existed, it would cause a problem, whether they would admit it or not.

Just my take on it.

It won't. Religion goes beyond explaining how was the universe created. Religion explores a lot of issues regarding to men life.
Religion will never disappear, the average men need that sense of "big brother" looking after them. They need to find someone guilty for all human miseries beside human itself.
If religions known today disappear, people would create new ones to fill the emptiness.

No.

God is o/c all those stars too. Mohammed, Krishna etc are His Avatars. No doubt God comes as Avatars on those planets too.

I think if we met beings from another planet and found out billions of stars support life it would just further prove that there is a Supreme Being that has created and is still creating and will continue to create.

I bet those beings from another planet would have their own Supreme Being that they worship - and guess what - it would be the same Supreme Being that we ALL worship.

I don't think it would prove it either way. I am not religious so do not believe in God, but say he did exist, perhaps the Bible etc were books that relate to people on this planet. If there are others out there perhaps they have their own books that relate to their way of life?

if we made the second discovery, then most likely, but a religion of sorts and many denominations would rise to take it's place.

as for just because an alien race made contact? no, they would just read the scientologist theology and use that to incite a religious war, and then.....take over the earth and enslave us to make us mine gold for them......

either that or they would show us the one, true way and kill us if we did not follow their beliefs....

or they would look at us, see how bigotted we are, how injust we are and how insecure we are and get out of dodge and put our puny little planet under quarantine and never allow us to join starfleet.

No religion will never disappear.

Religion does not exist because God exists. Religion exists as a pacifier to those who need to justify their existence and what goes on around them. They will always look for explanations for the things that are not possible to explain.

no never

because regardless if stars actually did support human life it gives me even MORE reason to believe god exists

first off the question would be where did the stars come from

stars supporting life would actually support gods existance and it would also go againts human theories
