We can't get married because of state laws, but we both want to so we can adhere to our religion, Christianity.

From a purely technical point of view, and according to God's laws, any type of extra-marital sexual relations are wrong, whether heterosexual or homosexual.

Heterosexuals can get married, and resolve that problem, at least as far as God is concerned.

Homosexuals can't, under any circumstances.

If that's what you were alluding to, you need to understand that Christianity does not and will not condone homosexual marriage, whether or not you can find a minister who might perform the ceremony. And that's because God has never condoned same sex marriage, and he never will.

In a case like that, living together actually serves as an impediment to true repentance, and it will remain a major, long-term, unresolved spiritual issue, as long as the illicit living arrangements continue.

State Laws have stopped you from getting married? OK... Weird.. If you have made a commitment to each other before God I call that married I don't care if the State will sanction it or not. That allows you to conduct business as a couple. I would think in a committed relationship you would want those rights too but that's up to you.. I would like to know what state law prevented your marriage though... Jim

Sex is always wrong. Women are beautiful creatures and men can only taint them. This is why God explains it a sin. The 'before marriage' part was only added by mild monks later on, in poor translation of ancient texts. As a man, you should only have sex with other men. And as a woman, it's best to only have relations with other women, so as to neither be tempted nor fouled. Do you think eve ever met Adam's snake before she met the tree serpent? Monasteries and convents were the best ideas Christianity ever had. Remain close to Jesus, and may he be behind you.

I'm very confused! What kind of marriage is banned by the state, but would be sanctioned by a christian church?

For christians, gay is bad. Marriage wouldn't make it better. I'm pretty sure they're against human/animal relationships as well. Is it someone who's already married?

State laws? If you are very young or if one is much older and one is a child, do not have sex. If you are both consenting adults within a reasonable number of years of each other, by all means hop in the sack but use protection unless you want a wittle bazney LOL

Yes sex is wrong because you are not legally married yet. Sex is God-ordained means of expressing love between a man and a woman that are legally married. Anything out of this is fornication which the bible outrightly condemned.

Only within the confines of marriage, and only between a man and a woman. Anything else the Bible calls fornication.

well if you're basing your decision on religion, the christian bible does say fornication (premarital sex) is a sin. But my question is, how are you breaking state laws by getting married? There's some other factors you're not telling...
