About the only thing you can do, if you have the time and inclination, is to scam the scammers. Go along with their little game, without giving up any real personal information, and get them to FedEx as many things to you as you can. It costs a scammer about $49 to FedEx a letter-sized item from Nigeria. My local police department is probably wondering why they are getting all these FedEx Letters from Nigeria with counterfeit checks inside... well, I didn't even want to give my real address so I used theirs, hee hee.

You mean I haven't really won that £2.4 million of an £8 million jackpot? Dammit the ferrari will have to go back!
When you get an email saying you have won the lottery, AND you do not remember entering any lottery, AND you have to reply by email to claim, but the email address is not the lottery companies, but a Yahoo or a Hotmail account, then that is VERY dodgy!
If anyone has followed up these emails in the genuine belief that they have won, then they are so stupid and gullible as to deserve to be ripped off!

I am not sure there is anything to report. People send those kind of spam emails all of the time. If you actually send them money or something and found out it was a fraud, then you would need to contact the police. Right now, just report it as spam to your internet provider.

You can't do much to protect fools from themselves. You can, if you are quick about it each time, report spam at http://www.spamcop.net
There are various Web sites giving government offices you can report them to, but I think it's likely to be redundant, that others will have done it already. These spammers/scammers are resourceful; they cover their tracks, they use mail and phone forwarders and only mobile phones and they take your money and run.
For more info just Google (relating to the Nigerial Penal Code section that applies -- most of these scammers are Nigerian, or copying Nigerian originals).

Hey Kris.....glad to see you care so much. I bet every cop in Britain and the US has the same email in there mailbox. I like to have fun with those people. I always email them back and ask how I claim my money. I tell them if they need my bank account number to let me know and I will give it to them to 'wire' the money. They always respond. Don't get so worked up. Have fun with it like I do.
