sorry for the loss of your friend. i too have lost many over the years for some really stupid reasons.
because, even if we take God out of the equation, if you follow the christian, or most any other faith, then you have made a concious choice to be kind and tolerant of people and to do good things.
so without God, we still have a socieity of people who look out for each other.

The reason to believe in something spiritual is not because you expect payment, the way some Christians expect to be paid in the afterlife. The reason a person should do what is right is that it is right. It's better to do something because you want to make the world a better place for others than for selfish reasons.
If you believe that Jesus Christ was sacrificed in order to give you the opportunity to be spiritually clean, that's the reason to be a Christian. There should be no other reason.
I'm sorry your friend had a traumatic experience at the end of his time here in this world. He sounds like someone who did what he thought was right.

Yes, southpaw I believe that Jesus Christ awaits me on the other side. That person who stopped to help was a good samaritan and I am sorry that happenend to him. It used to be that we could stop and help aomeone , now it is so dangerous andAI feel bad that I do not feell safe doing that. If my husband stops that is okay but it is definetly not safe for a woman to stop. It makes me angry at society. You Jesus says that we help anyone we have helped Him and these kind of things make it hard to do that. I am sure your friend would not want you to be bitter but be careful. YesThe Lord does love you and would that you would accept his grace of salvation.

Did you ever stop to think that perhaps your friend forgot to pray before he got out into the world that day and askied God for protection? Believe me, that makes a big difference. Christians know that they are to ask God for traveling mercies before they go out into this world every day. Perhaps, the way your friend died was the way God choose to take him home with him, if he was a Christian. God knows when He is invited to intervien and when to step asside and let things happen. Being good will not get you into heaven. Only accepting Jesus as your savior will. Being good will not keep harm from befalling you. But a born again Christian asking for God's shield of protection will make the difference between living or dying. If this sounds stupid to you, I cant' do anything about that.
Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

This is a god question, but i think u shoulda asked :"Why should u b a good person?" and not Christian, seeing as this is something that could hav hppnd to any1. I am sorry for your loss, and I wish u the best in the future, but don't get upset wit God, that would just b another victory 4 satan. People make choices, tht guy chose to shoot another, its not something that can b xplaind

You can never be sure that's why you need faith. I feel life on earth is like a flash of light. compared to whats left. People who suffer or die young had a purpose here and when they did whatever they were here for they move on. We are much too simple to understand all.We will receive the rest of the pieces to the puzzle later. You lead a happier life if you help others.

* Remember we are living in a nasty world.
It's unfair to put the blame on to Christianity or any other
religion.
To err is human.
* I'm not that religious but, yes I'm sure there's something
waiting for me on the other side.I'm called for that. Not
because of my goodness but through the immense mercy
and His pure grace. That's my Faith and Hope.
*I'm sorry about your friend.

That's so awful for your friend.
As a Pagan, I believe what you do comes back, and I've been helped so much--when I was lost in NYC, by nine people who each donated a pint of blood so I could get transfusions during one awful year--that I'm going to do what I can to help others.

The Bible says that "every man has appointed time to die".
I am sorry that person had to die like that.
My nephew was shot three times on the street and died. He was only 19. It was his appointed time, and his consequences..
How do you know that the person who was shot, God called home because he knew they would suffer horribly with cancer later on??

Faith - believing in something you cannot see. If you are a believer then you KNOW in your heart and have FAITH that Heaven awaits!
Your friend stopped because he had "faith" that God would guide his path. And He did - it was obviously his time to go from this Earth.
