I don't eat meat and as a filler, I often throw a small handful of dry roasted unsalted peanuts in my yogurt or cereal. I will also grab some when I am feeling really hungry. They knock out that hungry feeling.

The lack of salt and lower fat will probably help a little, but basically peanuts are packed with fat. Just enjoy in moderation :-)

I think what you are doing is fine. I know that almonds are a very good nut to have. They are full of plant chemicals that help protect against heart disesase, stroke and other illnesses, along with vitamin E, potassium and others. I usually sprinkle a handful of the slivered kind in my salads or have a handful before a meal.

Great snack. Good protein and fiber source.
Also try unsalted almonds and walnuts.
Just not too many beacuse they are high in fat (mostly the good kind) and calories.

They are a good snack but are fattening. It is the oil in them that makes them fattening. That is why if you eat even just a handful you don't feel hungry anymore

I'm in the understanding that, this is not a bad option. But unsalted almonds are better for you.

as long as it is moderation; peanuts contain fat and are relatively high in calories, they are, however, a good source of protein; but just a handful at a time should not cause any problems;

If you are vegetarian and thin they are great. If you are fat or need a low fat diet maybe a handful 3x a week. If the alternative is chips or cookies eat all you want.
