I mean you can have a conversation with him! if you talk to him he'll talk right back to you, he always has something to say, i mean i think its great but why is such a conversationalist? he's not siamese or anything like that, he's white with brown eyes, (domestic shorthair) he is VERY affectionate too, loves his stomach rubbed and loves to be around people ALL the time, he doesn't care where you touch him as long as your touching him

Just as there are chatty people in this world, there are chatty cats. After a full day of lounging around, playing with little bits of string, stalking the sunbeams that stream through the windows, it sounds like your fuzzy pal simply has a lot to say. Maybe he is trying to get a message to you but you don't speak his language. Maybe he has been watching more than animal planet when you are out of the house and he thinks he has the answer to the problems in Iraq or global warming or the ultimate mystery of why we made Paris Hilton famous when she does nothing and is a horrible, spoiled drunken tramp. Unfortunately we keep misinterpreting all of your cat's efforts and communication as random purrs, yowls and snuggles. Think about how frustrating that must be for your cat.

My Cat Talks To Me In A Certain Way Only I Can Understand.

I have one cat who has an annoyed kind of meow. He has a comment about everything and has since he was a kitten, he's fourteen now.

Another cat doesn't meow at all, he "chatters". I ask him questions all the time, "Don't you think you should come in now and get your dinner?, etc." and he always answers with a little conversation.

My cat is a people lover too. I know that he understands perfect English. I believe he could speak English, if he had people lips,LOL.
I've read that cats are actually smarter than dogs but are too intelligent to let anyone know it. Look at how many have saved their owners lives.
You may have to also learn to speak the cat language of ears & tail to really understand what he's saying but I think you must just be lucky to have a great "people person" cat. Just don't let him join in any poker games....cats cheat!

Some cats are very verbal, they are simply communicating with their humans...... my kitties are very, very verbal. They also communicate with their body language...... and if you have more than 1, you can hear the differences in their tone, inflection and delivery. I have 2 needy ones like yours, the more you talk to them, or pet them, the more they want. My calico has been "nursing" since she was a kitten, I have no explanation for this!!

I think that is great. I have 4 dogs and 1 cat, all rescue animals and they are great. They too have the ability to "talk" . I guess they just have something to say. I wished I could understand what they are saying.

He is obviously a very sociable creature. I had a cat like that for 18 years. He usually had to have the last word as well.

Both of my cats are like that. I think its cute. You can have full conversations with them and they will keep talking like they understand you. I think maybe they're either making fun of us for talking at them, or mimicking us. Sometimes I think they're trying to tell us to feed them though.

edit: Check out Crispy's article. It's really good!

Ahhhh, this is so sweet! One of mine does the same thing, and I love it. Just enjoy the little guy! Some cats are bitchy, like my older one, who bless her soul, is a total diva cat and always looks at the other cats who "talks" like she is a dumba@#. ~Sigh~ The politics of cats!
