They're allways saying "I'll pray for you"

They think their god is the only true one and all the others are destined to hell.

I'm not Christian, but I can say this, your question and how it was phrased strongly shows you to be the arrogant one. You should know damn well that a phrase like "I'll pray for you" can have selfless, and, yes, self righteous, intent and meaning behind it, depending on context. But you define it one way to make the phrase appear to be solely arrogant. Then you conflate personal Christian faith as to the veracity of their god's claim of being the one god, which all Christians have, to some Fundamentalist, for lack of better term, Christian, pronouncements that non believers shall go to Hell. Even if all believe such a thing, not all Christians harrass people with that belief, which I'm sure you know. You just want to take a cheap shot and generalize about Christians.

There's no excuse for arrogance or condescension - That was not Christ's way - neither should it be for his followers.
Christ DID though, give a command to preach and teach the good news of God's Kingdom, (Matth28:19) - and make disciples of people of all the nations - that is, make disciples in the sense of telling others about Jehovah and how he has set out a wonderful future for those who submit to his standards now. This is done with home Bible studies that are offered to anyone who wants it. There's no Holy Crusade or war or intimidation of people - it's just a telling out to others who want to listen. It's a wonderful future held out where there's no more sickness, ageing, or dying (Revel.21:4). Wouldn't you want that for yourself? Wouldn't you want to learn more about it? If not, that's your decision. No Kingdom proclaimer is going to say to you: "Oh I'll pray for your poor soul!" And neither should anyone else say such things.

If you are asking a christian a question and they did not say they would pray for you would they be a good christian granted they should not condem anyone to hell that is God's job and we are not to judge only He can. But as a christian if you and I talked and I did not feel strongly about God and Jesus Christ would you think I was a wishy washy christian. Really nowwmake up your mind do you want to hear about the love of Christ if not then do not ask here. Please forgive those who go too far and take God's job. He will deal with them accordingly.

A true Christian in saying that is not being arrogant but being compassionate, that hey look, I care about you. Not a whole lot I can do to better your situation but I will remember you in my prayer so Someone that CAN help you will move and help you.

No arrogance, just love and compassion there.

Now mind you, I said a TRUE Christian. Someone who truly knows and understands God. Not a religious fruitcake who's "better" and "holier than thou".

And believe it or not, God does love you and care about you and He does want people interceding on your behalf--truly and sincerely that is. Not to feel good that hey I pray, I go to church, I must be a good person. No, not like that. God looks at and knows man's heart, no one can fool Him.

Most Christians aren't any more arrogant than believers in other religions.

But the Evangelicals, who make up a relatively small but disproportionally vocal group, believe it is their job to convert as many people as they can to their way of thinking.

And, yes, sometimes they can be pretty arrogant about it, since they're faith convinces them that theirs is the only right way to get to Heaven and requires them to round up as many people as they can to accompany them.

When someone says he'll pray for me, I figure it's just his way of expressing a kind thought. Even if it doesn't work, it makes him feel better, so why worry about it.

We will be called peculiar it says in the NT,but to be called arrogant does hurt.
If someone says to you," I will pray for you"
does that hurt?
It is humility and a contrite spirit where one finds out the truth of God, and not thru arrogancy.

All we are saying is give peace a chance.
Lets not judge one another even if we detect an arrogant one, instead pursue peace no matter who your God is.

Yes, I believe my God is the one true God. Why else would I follow Him? Whether anyone is destined to Hell, that's not my call. And yes, if you ask, I'll pray for you. But I'm not arrogant, I'm just a regular person.

Not all christians are arrogant....and the "I'll pray for you" thing is usually their way of saying that their sending you good thoughts..I used to be a christian, I only said that to people if my sincere desire was to help them(i.e. a loved one was sick or dying, seems to be an encouraging thing to say) Try to understand that not all of them are condescending and think they know everything (although on here it seems it sometimes) Best wishes!

Their bible tells them that they are the way, the truth, and the light. Notice, it does not say "only"way. There are some wonderful Christian people, even on here. There are fanatics in most religions, I suspect. The fanatics are definitely arrogant, narrow minded, brainwashed bigots. I find them comical, actually. While, the other Christians practice what Jesus intended, before Paul took over writing the bible.

I'm sorry you feel that way about Christians. I know there are arrogant, annoying Christians. But please don't judge all of us, by a few. Christians are humans too and make mistakes. They may not know they are arrogant by just saying they will pray for you. That is what we are taught to do.
