It would seem to me that if those who are non believers were really open-minded, they would inquire and research and draw conclusions hence rather than reject the notion of a Creator, frequently in slanderous terms to the believer and the Creator.

Unable to see an effective way to respond inteligently to a believers point of view, they are reduced slander and slang (not very open-minded, really). Of course we all know that inteligent thinking people only believe in things that are tangible so they are overcome by the charm of being a non-believer because it is "smart", lest they be thought of as believing in failry tails. I think they all really do want to believe but won't allow themselves to for that very reason.

I'm not uptight at all - if people want to believe in a creator that's their business.

I've looked at all the evidence for the existence of a creator (it took me all of a couple of minutes because there is none) and reviewed the evidence that there is not a creator (only reviewed because there's so much of it) and made up my own mind (as I have every right to do, the same as everyone else).

If there is something that DOES get me uptight, it's people who DO believe in a creator trying to push their beliefs in my face like I'm a small child who hasn't grasped some basic fact. I fully understand AND RESPECT their point of view but choose not to agree with it and part of that respect is NOT ramming my beliefs down their throats at every opportunity; I just wish they had the respect and decency to do the same to me.

In my experience I feel its the ones who belive in a "creator" that
are uptight and trying to push their religion on me, as I am not a beliver in a single creator. I just say to them I am happy you are comfortable in ur path let me follow mine.
I think we all should have tolerance for each other and if some one is a christian fine repsect a atheist or wiccan.........and so forth
we all have to live on this planet who says which religion is right.
I personaly am a pagan and my family is christian and they are slowly learning tolerance for what I belive.
I tolerate all just don't "share" with me about ur path unless its a
pleasant conversation, and ur open minded and not condesending
about other religions. I used to go to a christian school and go to church and I excepted Christ however I was not happy with my path and chose with knowledge the one I am following now.
I might add that I did not choose the current path I am on til after I was 30 yrs old. Also I did not seek out this question I stumbled on to it and thought it would be fun to share my point of view.

the thing is that some believers are obsessed and some are real hypocrites, they think that by going to church they are perfect human beings, that whatever they do all of their sins will be forgiven, but the moment they step out of that door, they are complete idiots(not to say something else) who go against everything they are supposed to believe. as a non believer, i still think that the whole point and concept of believing in god is to follow the teachings, as to be humble and generous, to be able to give a smile to everybody, to give aswell as get...many values have been lost in time...not many people follow these, and the majority of those people are "believers". also STOP preaching on the streets and screaming at people that they should repent their sins or burn in hell, i find it offensive. that's why. i mean no offence to you. this not meant to offend. is just an opinion.

why do people who believe in a creator get so uptight at non believers? And by the way. non believers are basically more closed minded if you think about it. Don't the believers go on faith? And don't nonbelievers need proof.

LOL - you're right. The thing is we've ALREADY done that! How could you not have come to that conclusion?

Do you think atheists are born that way? Not as a rule. We become atheists because we have studied and drawn conclusions.

And you gotta love the jealousy theories. I haven't heard those before. Yeah, I'm jealous of this "loving" god who represses his people at every turn. Don't have sex! Don't masturbate! Don't be gay! Don't don't don't. Yup, I'm seriously jealous of that.

First, White tiger, there is no moral absolute, Morality is subjective to a culture.

Now for your question, Our ire stems from the knowledge that people actually accept the myth as fact. In an educated society it makes absolutely no intellectual sense.

But, be aware that if the world we live in becomes less perilous and scary, the number and intensity of religious believers will subside. that's just human nature.

They get uptight about it because the devil is working through them to try to deceive all others that want to follow Jesus Christ. Why else would it bother them what a Christian believes? If they don't believe in God or Jesus, fine but they can't stand the fact that somebody else does. Very weird, I think.

For the ones that think Christianity is being 'shoved down their throat'- I think it's weird that you seek out Christian and God posts. Perhaps it just seems that it's being shoved down your throats because you are always searching for these type of questions.

I do think of believers droop rationality and reason. they have not at all considered speaking animals, 900 year previous adult males, zombies mountain climbing out of their graves, human beings getting swallowed by ability of whales and surviving for 3 days etc. yet while an historical goat herder they not at all met claims they did, they droop any expertise they have gained of the particular international to settle for it unquestioningly. in keeping with risk you do not have faith in all this superstitious nonsense. yet nevertheless, How did your god finally end up. Did he evolve? the place? became he created? by ability of whom. in case you quite used reason you will possibly ask your self those questions. rather you merely positioned your head interior the floor and say "He merely Is" Ours is to not question why. in case you have been walking alongside and found a watch, you does not say it merely is. yet while confronted mutually with your supposedly infinitely greater complicated god you do. i in my view think of the belief of a writer of each and everything is nonsense and merely finally ends up in countless regression. yet then I do use reason and do merely not conceal my head interior the floor for any questions that i might want might leave.
