2 c Flour

2 1/2 ts Double-acting baking powder

2 ts Sugar

1 ts Salt

7 tb Butter

3/4 c Milk

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Combine all the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Cut the butter into small bits and stir them into the dry ingredients, using your finger tips to make sure its well combined. Next, slowly add the milk to the mixture while stirring continually. Once the milk has been added, knead the dough for one minute until smooth. Roll the dough out to quarter inch thickness. Cut into squares and place on a dry cookie sheet. Place the cookie sheet on the middle shelf. Bake for 12 minutes and feel secure in knowing that you have passed on a small piece of America's heritage on to your children.

I'd recommend checking out this website: www.allrecipes.com or www.bettycrocker.com.

But I don't know if this is available in your country, but here in the U.S. we often use things like Pillsbury biscuits that are in the tube. You peel off the cover and then strike the edge of the perforated area on the countertop and it opens. You peel apart the individual biscuits and then pop them into a preheated oven on a baking pan. The best ones are the ones with butter and very flaky.

If you want to get a real sense of eating American style in a home cooked meal, you want to make easy to fix foods. Other choices for busy moms are Hamburger helper or foods you can pop into the oven that are already prepared. Most of us moms who work don't have the time much nowadays to fix a dinner from scratch any more.

when I make biscuits, I add some flour about 2 cups to a medium size bowl add a little salt, less than a teaspoon but more than half, a couple teaspoons of baking powder(not baking soda) I whisk the dry together to combine then I start adding shortening. and work it in with my fingers till I get crumbly texture. Then I add milk until it's the right consistency, if I'm going to roll them out and cut with a cutter I want it to be thicker, but if I'm going to drop by spoonfuls into greased pan, I want it just a tad thinner. I bake the biscuits till the tops are nicely browned. Serve warm.

PS when you are adding the milk, don't stir the dough too much. You just want it to be worked in, too much stirring makes the biscuits tough and hard.

Usually we just split open the little cardboard tube thing! Does that count as a recipe?
