Multiple personality disorders usually stem from a genetic imbalance in the body, accompanied with equal left brain and right brain usage. the two sides conflict for control and logic and creativity battle with each other. The trauma is usually the trigger, but once a fractured psyche is triggered, I've heard that dealing with the trauma won't "untrigger" it. Medication seems to be the only treatment, but that could be a ruling on behalf of the pharmaceutical companies.
The only way for MPD patients to recover is for their personalities to engage each other, basically rid the mind of one another. This symboloic battle causes the brain to heal the pathways and retain order over one side of the brain. Different medications will either prevent personalities from surfacing or it will trigger a confrontation between them under close psychiatric watch.

Psychologists say that some abused children will develop MPD as a means of separating themselves from the abuse they're suffering. It may very well be that's what happened in your case, if you were in fact abused. You might want to speak to a close family member who could know about this, instead of your dad, but there's no guarantee that they knew, either.

it is very possible, if you used like a splitting of feelings as a coping technique. you may want to see a counciler, or ask your doctor to perscribe somehting, short term, to help you out, until you get on the right track.
when you say multiple personality... is it bi-polar, like you are really sad, or angery some days, and you are tired and exausted, and then the next day you are like alive, and almost feel like you are high?? or do you have split-personality disorder, these are two totally different things that you may want to look into. you might want to talk to a counciler about figuring out which one you have.
i was sexualy abused for 4 years as a child, and had bi-polar a to the point i was no longer able to fully function through a normal day, and through saver treatment, and a few differnt tipes of therapy, we figured out that the root problem was ptsd. and now, i have completely over come it all. it just takes the right steps, and maybe medication.
good luck

MPD is usually associated with severe emotional trauma early on in life so I'd say yes, this is a possibility. My guess is that one of your personalities knows about the trauma and was specifically created for this purpose.

You should see a therapist about this condition maybe talking to this individual could help you to face your fears and humiliation and finally be able to forgive the individual that wronged you and move on with your life. You could ask your parent to explain the situation to the therapist if you don't feel confident enough to explain it yourself.Good Luck!!!

I do not believe in the diagnosis of multiple personality disorder. You probably were not abused.

It is possible. The reason you may not remember is that you have it blocked in your memory. That is sad that he did this to you and then told you in front of the family, he is sick.
