I'll wait to hear that it was illegals, however, I must admit that occured to me.
I only recently heard about personal hygiene issues from different cultural norms amongst farm workers, with the implication that the problem increased as farms became more dependant on illegal immigrant labor. (The statement was that they don't use the porta potties and just use the field.) I haven't done 'research' on it, though.
I guess the jury is still out on this one.

Okay, does anyone else agree that is completely idiotic logic?
If this is true, (that most of the salsa was contaminated by E. coli), then what makes you think that this is a result of the "dirty" lettuce and tomato pickers (100% of which are Mexican according to "Eistein" here). Coudn't possibly be the soil (ie. "dirt") that the produce is grown in, or the people in the factories handling the produce and making the salsa (cuz Mexicans only work in the fields, these must be white folk), or the food handlers in the restaurant itself (probably acne-infested high school teenagers who ALWAYS wash their hands after using the restroom) or the fact that YOU didn't wash your hand after wiping your *** the last time you took a crap and then touched the spoon used for the community salsa bowl.
Nope, the salsa has E. coli, the Mexicans pick the tomato that goes into the salsa and therefore, the Mexicans are dirty. Give this man the Nobel Prize for single-handedly contributing to the eradication of an entire species of bacteria. And don't pat yourself on the back TOO hard.

i am sure that any place you go that has food has the ability to carry some sort of disease. how many fast food places, where teenagers work, has this problem because they do not understand the importance of washing their hands, especially after using the bathroom. that said i had a friend who went to the hospital some time ago with problems with her pregnancy, she was released and the problem solved, but days later ended up back at the hospital with a horrible staphylococcus infection that the hospital had determined had come from an employee not washing their hands, she ended up losing her baby.
Furthermore, did you know that many slaughter houses starve their cattle for 48 hours, so at the time of slaughter it is less likely they will spread e-coli throughout the meat? E-coli lives in the intestines of most mammals, not just humans, and simply splitting the intestines will spread the bacteria. Not to mention after the produce is picked it passes through many hands before it ends up on the dinner table. educate yourself before you start spewing hate

Why dont you pick your own fruits and vegetables and stop hating on the Mexicans. They are just people trying to make it in life. They arent spoiled by their rich parents like you probably are and they have a good work ethic. This of course does not apply to all Mexicans, but does apply to the ones working almost all day long on farms with the sun burning them up. Stop being so ignorant.

There were also e-coli breakouts in beef as well as madcow disease. Shall we lump Canadians and other countries we import products from. How do you know exactly which handler handled the product with ecoli? Isn't manure used by American farmers as fertilizer? Stop trying to mask your rascism behind questions that aren't well thought out. I am against ILLEGALS of any culture residing here in America. Have you ever seen swab studies on bowling alley's. The equipment. Hmmmm I wonder what ethnicity enjoys that particular sport as well. You probably only speak one language and haven't ventured out beyond the backyard. WASHING THE FERTILIZER OFF is more than likely the true CULPRIT.

Most of the health inspectors in every stare are under staffed and under financed So a lot of restaurants get missed or inspected infrequently.Instead of being a high priority on the government list they aren't.Our produce, slaughter houses, meat packers etc are subject to inspections. But if there are a limited number of qualified inspectors,of course all do not get inspected.
Also corruption in the ranks hinder honesty.
We must help our selves to better health.Wash all vegetables in warm water well if eaten raw, cook all vegs and meat long enough to kill the bacteria.Wash your hands often and don't cross contaminate foods.Don't use the same knife to cut meat and vegs, wash your counters with a mixture of 1/4 cup of Clorox mixed with 4 cups of water to kill germs.Don't wipe your hands on contaminated towels. keep your kitchen and utensils clean.
I don't care how well you know a restaurant it can be dirty ,the people don't always follow the regulations .
Sorry looks like Mother just gave a lecture. But its our life and we must protect our health.

E. coli lives in the intestines of cattle and other animals and typically is linked to contamination by fecal material. It causes an estimated 73,000 cases of infection, including 61 deaths, each year in the United States, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Sources of the bacterium include uncooked produce, raw milk, unpasteurized juice, contaminated water and meat, especially undercooked or raw hamburger, the agency says on its Web site.
Ecoli doesnt only come from feces...and you are telling us that "Mexicans are dirty and nasty"....but your NOT RACIST right? Give me a break.....for all those that say "were not racist. I have never seen a racist person on Answers, we just dont like illegals" Here is ANOTHER example!

How wonderful you people can research and find the dirt on the bad ole immigrants! How quickly you forget how maybe a couple of years there was a breakout with the strawberries and guess it was? White men who had forgotten to wash their hands before handling the fruit. That's disgusting.
