I would like to take a weekend getaway the 1st or 2nd weekend in April. I must stay in USA or Canada. I'm leaving from Chicago & I'm on a tight budget.......any suggestions? Atlanta, Wisconsin, and St Louis aer not options because I go there every year anyway to visit family/friends. I'm looking for something different to do with my friends. Hotel costs are not a problem since i get discount.

When you mention April, I think of Washington DC and the cherry blossom festival. Also, there are many wineries nearby, lots of museums including the new Air and Space museum and the Spy museum in Virginia. Along with that, the monuments are cool, and tons of good restuarants. If you like sports, catch a baseball game in Baltimore or DC. Lots of hiking trails around the area, Great Falls is a nice potomac river sight. Old Town Alexandria is very quaint. Also, don't forget Georgetown and the renovated Verizon center areas downtown.

PS....sorry but New England in the fall is the best time to see Maine, etc....

Why not fly to New England? Get some fresh Lobster, go site seeing. It will be a bit cooler because your right by the Ocean.

If your looking for something more fun or adventurous. Go to Ohio or Pittsburgh, PA and stay by the amusement parks.
Have you ever tried camping or renting a cabin. depending on how many friends your going with these two options are great.

Good Luck finding your trip.

Niagara Falls!!! It's a great central location so you can travel to Toronto and Buffalo. You can stay for cheep on the Niagara Falls, Ontario side. You can walk over the Rainbow Brigde to the US side and visit the parks, rapids, whirlpools all surrounded by the pretties flowers. There is no other color blue quite like that of the Niagara River.

How about Washington DC? It's supposed to be beautiful there in the spring. I've been to Montreal & Quebec in the spring. You can probably get a good deal for Florida as well. Virginia is also reasonable and there's lots to do. Also, if you are a skiier, depending on your budget, spring skiing in the best!
