That is because when you hire people to work for $6.50 an hour that is what you get. Check your order before you pull away- i always do that!

I worked for Taco Bell for about a month. I quit when I finally realized that I was not getting paid for all the hours I worked (paid for 35 hours when I worked 70 hours). At the time minimum wage was $3.50 an hour. Working in a fast food joint is extremely high pressure. You are timed, graded and paid based on speed and accuracy. Taco Bell times their employees for every single order which better be ready to go before the customer pulls up to the pick up window. You were docked in pay for not having the order ready on time, generally too slow, and customer complaints for incorrect orders (this docking was the cost of the item or the whole order). Hopefully Taco Bell isn't in habit of docking nowadays.
I know it's irritating for the order to be wrong. Before you get angry about it, think about how hard they work and the kind of pressure they are under.

Tip: To those of you who complain about repeating yourselves while placing your order at the drive thru. The sound quality of the equipment isn't that great. You'll repeat yourself less if you speak loud and slower than usual, and pause a moment between different items. This little pause gives them time to punch the right keys. This is how I handle it and I don't ever get wrong orders unless there is a new employee in training.

I blame it on the fact that most places try to maintain quick service....hence the name "fast food". I knew someone who worked at a place that timed the people working in drive-thru & they were graded on their timing. Good lord! It is very aggrivating when something is missing & it's just a hassle & more time-consuming when you have to go back & get your missing item or complain about it. If more places just slowed down a bit then maybe they wouldn't have that many problems.

I think that they are panicking just to get everybody's orders, that they are always missing something when you look in the bag. I've found it annoying when you got the same person in the drive-through window taking your order and taking people's money. They don't pay attention and you have to repeat what you want several times.

I live in Las Vegas and have never had a bad fast food order. I visit assorted fast foods at least once a week
The problem could be localized.

Here it's a lack of grasp of the English language. Especially through the speaker. I was arguing with one girl one morning that I really did want 6 McMuffins, an iced tea, and a Diet Coke. She kept questioning "six?" Yes, six. I was taking breakfast to my husband at work for a surprise. Two for me, two for him, and a couple to snack on later. "Say six?" Yes! Six!

No wonder these kids can't pass high school exit exams.

I agree! Our order is hardly ever right. I know it's obnoxious to the people behind us, but we have learned to sit there and go through the bag to make sure we have everything before we leave the window.

I agree with you... everytime I go by the drive-thru I seem to be missing something from my bag, and that is every time

I found out that if you placed large orders, there was always something missing. It's because people don't read properly and rush as they try to maintain a quick/fast service.

Stop the line as you root through your bag, making sure it is all there. I mean, put the car in PARK while you check. If they act huffy, tell them you don't feel like pulling up and having to get out AGAIN if they forgot something AGAIN. Once their line gets slowed up, they will figure out quickly to pay attention.
