If a comment is offensive, report it.
Other than that, you can't come on here and post questions and expect everyone to answer something the way you want it answered. People need reality checks every once in a while. Part of the allure of having this site is so that people will give real advice to each other. Maybe they would not have the courage to tell you the things they think you need to read if they were face to face with you. Anyway, it is up to you to decide what you will do with this advice.

You are right, normally, most people dont like to be aggressive when answering face to face. That's because they are unsure of how they would react if the other person gave it back to them in the same terms or more. On Yahoo! Answers, those who answer questions can safely hide as they need not know or receive the readers' or the questioners' thoughts thereafter.
But honestly, some questions can be so stupid and irritating that now and then one is tempted to just let go! LOL.

I think most people would not be quite so aggressive if met face to face. But, of course you do have those few who do not care what they say. Being on line like this makes people more bold as they don't have to face the person to hear there reply.
As far as people being more polite- sometimes it is people being rude, immature, trying to be funny or just not sure how serious the person asking the question really is.

No I don't think they would. However, the anonimity Yahoo Answers provides allows people to ask questions they would feel unable to ask in real life/face to face! I think that you probably get more honest answers to embarassing or personal questions here as well because in every day life, many more people would 'judge' you for your innermost thoughts whereas here, one can share them without the worry of the whole neighbourhood finding out!
As for the impolite, well.... they are to be found all over society so I guess we just have to put up with it and ignore them. Maybe one day, they will grow out of it and get a life!

Some people ask some questions and make comments that offend others and in other cases people like being sarcastic just for fun. Did this happen to you ? What did you say in your comment or question ?
Yes, I do believe some people would say these things to your face - why wouldn't they ?

Problem is, MOST of communication is non-verbal (or written) - you can not easily tell if someone is being sarcastic, funny, cynical, malicious etc. Exact same problem w/email etiquette - hence the evolution of the "smileys".
ALSO, aren't people naturally more aggressive when they are NOT faced w/retaliation? Think about Road Rage, people don't usually get "Sidewalk Rage"....

no. being on this site makes it easier for people to be just as loud as they want to be. there is no fear in being called out. if they send you an email, you can delete it. face to face, you would be more apt to appearing polite and courteous. unless you were a caveman, then all the rules go out the widow!

depends on what you said to them. If nothing, then kick the butthead in his face! Aggressive people generally hide behind something....they cannot attack their own problems so take it out on other people. Losers!

i know it wouldnt change for me. i tell it like i read it or see it. have you read some of the questions tell me people dont just ask for it. then you have the people that like the aggrivation.im sure the computers a wall for those people that dont have any balls. but its not me go ahead hit me with a question.
