I know for perms it is 48 hours, so I would guess the same amount of time for straightening since they are using about the same chemicals.

Depends on the person. Naturally oil will build up, so i guess it really depends on how you feel when your hair gets that way. I have naturally curly hair, so when I would spend an hour or so straightening it it was going to stay straight for awhile. I don't think i went more than 4 days though. I think that's my limit. I don't like my hair to feel oily and look weighted down.
So ultimately, just see how long you can go. Hope this helps.

You should wait at least 48 hours or more for best results if chemically straightened. If you're using a flat iron and doing it yourself, then you can wash your hair any time you want.

If you have chemically straighted your hair, I would wait at least 48 hours. The chemicals would be deactivated if shampooed before then. If you feel like your hair needs washed before then, just brush some baby powder through your hair, it will soak up any oils on your scalp and in your hair that may make it appear greasy or dirty.
