There are good and needed issues to discuss about faith, but, this is a dysfunctional site.
I can hear the free speech comments come up, but, there is a lot of verbal assualt and degenerate discussion that is completely unnecessary.
I know it cannot be stopped, but, for that reason, this site is useless for the purpose it was intended.

It would be great if there were rational thinkers who came here, interested in knowledge and understanding, but there are very, very few.

The liberal left has been working to tear down belief in God and Religion since Antonio Gramsci wrote that the key to overcoming democracy and capitalism was to change the way society thinks about its problems. The key was to subvert and erode the belief in God and a divinely inspired set of moral absolutes. The way to do this was to infiltrate and dominate media and educational institutions. Look around you and see how well they have propspered in their goals.

And how do you know the purpose for which this site is intended? Open and free discussion is the lifeblood of civilization - and that means that occasionally you'll hear/read some comments that you don't particularly care for. If you prefer to hear nothing but total agreement with your thoughts, that's not discussion, it's blind repetition of dogma. The reality is that even among identical twins, who've been inseperable for years - like the famous conjoined Siamese twins Chang and Eng - have areas in which they do not totally agree. Deal with it or live the life of the hermit - those are your choices.

There are very few rational thinkers capable of understanding true spirituality because in order to reach that level, a person needs to acquire a high level of spiritual maturity at the Soul level, which is a great attainment only very few are capable of.
I believe, however, that many of the people who make bitter remarks do so out of frustration more than out of animosity. Perhaps there is a proportion of them who are actually rational thinkers and for that very reason refuse to accept a dogma or a calling itself "spiritual" belief that is full of illogical statements, loopholes, and is built on blind aceptance of authority, rather than being able to generate true and spontaneous persuasion by the power of its rationale and the lucidity of its presentation. Perhaps these people visit the same theme over and over again, in the hope that one day a sparkle ignites their expectations.
I, as an individual have gone through all of these stages, myself. I was born into a Christian background, but as I developed my own free logical thinking, I rejected the dogma and my conscience was abhored by the atrocities commited by the church, like with its Inquisition, with millions of innocent people being murdered by the church/inquisition abusing the name of Christ, and by violating all of Christ's values, to the limits, for own greed for power and money. These realizations naturally threw me into the opposite direction, and I thought I became an atheist, as a young adult. But then, throughout my life, there were such profound experiences that indicated guidance and even direct intervention by a higher power, that I could not overlook them. As a more mature adult I started exploring this inner guidance, and I discovered that I was a spiritual being, that all the knowledge I needed was inside me and I was only put off by seeking it elsewhere, like through the church.
Then something else happened a few years ago. Something that I would never have believed could happen, should it not have happened to me. I started being able to receive and channel information directly from the Source, and I was guided to write down the Concept of Rational Spirituality.
This Concept contains the full and genuine truth about God, the Universe and people's place in it. It contains all the information that was throughout the history referred to as the Holy Grail, and which was lost to humanity by the anihilation of the Cathars, the holders of the Holy Grail, by the church in 1244.
If there are people who are demanding thinkers, and would embrace the Truth, then they may want to study the Concept on the Dhaxem website. This profound knowledge can be free to anyone who benefits from it, and respects it.
I believe that the confrontation referred to in your question is due to the division that is inherent in the very words "religion" and "atheism". I believe that boths words could simply be replaced by the word "Truth". Than all those who open their hearts and their minds to the Truth can unite under one umbrella of peace.
If the above results in at least one person's life being influenced to the better, it was worth my time writing it.
With my very best wishes to every reader.

Not at all. Valid questions are sometimes asked, and valid answers are sometimes given. The valid questions are few and far between, but they are out there.
What we see the most of is the same questions being asked over and over: Why are atheists out here? Why are you an atheist? Is atheism a religion? Why are atheists mean? etc.

I agree with you. The fact that these people feel the need to come here with their lame comments tells me they need to constantly reassure themselves that they are right. I suppose to them antagonizing others is fun. This site has been ruined by idiots.

AMEN
Thank God someone else realizes it!
If you do not believe -- why spend your time to just argue or talk down about religion and spirituality?
But like you said, it will not be stopped.

If this site was "intended" to serve people who wish to re-enforce their delusions and superstitious beliefs, it is a positive thing that rational thinkers come here to try to cure your diseased minds before your god concepts kill us all.
