Got to love the fact you asked a simple question and not one person answered you they all think that because your killing a cat it’s should be a crime. These are probably the same people that would use a mousetrap, same concept. To this man the cats are pest, and like any pest you have rights to remove them. Now your best bet is to use a garden hose on them, squirt them with the hose that should scare them off, if not us a paint ball gun. (Paint ball gun you say). If you use this type of weapon it is none deadly and if for some chance you miss you can’t hurt anyone that may happen to get hit with a stray shot. These strays may carry diseases. But to be on the safe side check with your local police department first your township may actually have laws about this and maybe they have ways of taking care of this problem without hurting the cat.

I would. I also shot a neighbors LOOSE pit bull that happened to magically appear in my yard. It had a reputation for biting, and I have 2 kids. Thank goodness for Smith and Wesson.

If it is anyone's animal, just be prepared to go to court over it. I had to go to court over the pit bull, because the man raised such a stink over it, but it was just small claims court and I was deemed to be in the right, and he actually had to pay my court fees. Pit bulls aren't allowed in the county.

I've shot a whole deep freezer full of critters that were on my property. Rabbits, partridges, squrriel, and deer. If you own the land, it's fair game. Especially if you live out in the country like I do.

For cat shooting, being it's not an edible critter, a 9mm or a 22 should suffice. Silencers are easy to get for these calibers of weapons, so you won't disturb the neighbors. Breaking windows won't be a problem if you are a good shot.

It is illegal to put poison down for them and illegal to shot them, yet strangely, if you lived in Wales it would be legal for you to kill a sheep if it entered your back yard of its own volition!

As you seem to have tried the legal options of pepper spray etc here are a few more legal options you could go for … have you a friend with a vicious dog that you could loan for a few days to keep in your garden? Or, if you were able to catch the feral cats you could then drop them off at your local cat shelter where if they were not homed they would be legally disposed of.

Another option would be to work out how they are getting in and stop them, for example broken glass cemented onto the top of garden walls not only stops cats getting in your garden it also makes it harder for burglars to enter.

People like you are the scum of the earth ,what do you do to people who upset you,I hate to think ,cat`s do no harm and by the sound of you ,you don`t spend a lot of time tending your garden ,you`d rather shoot something that can`t hurt you ,wonder what your reaction would be if you on the receiving end ,I shouldn`t worry about the neighbours reckon they think your rotten anyhow ,.

no, its not legal.

However the best for the job would be the Chieftan. It copes with all sorts of terrain, has tracking turret so you can race up and down the garden and still aim correctly. You can reach 40 MPH and cost of ownership sirealtively cheap at £200K per year.

However be cafeful because its got a big kick to it so make sure you have space behind for recoil, the tank will"hop" back about a foot

No you can't, even if they are stray. You'll be charged with animal cruelty. You'll be banned from keeping pets and any that you may already have will be taken away. If it bothers you that much try actually talking to your neighbours who's shed these cats live in. Failing that get a dog, or would you shoot that for crapping in your pansies as well?

I just love cats, but I do agree with the stray cat thing....all I can tell you is that the other day, I had a visitor and he was telling me of a sure fire way of getting rid of strays, however, because of the sensitivity of others and their beliefs....get ahold of me and I will let you know what they said to me....and No, you can not shoot the cats within your city limits, and it is costly to replace a window.

There are so many a**holes in this world that have to resort to your way of thinking, thats why we are at the stage that we are at ! dont shoot the cats just go live with the rest of your buddies in Iraq or just simply get yourself a dog !

yes it is illegal and if caught by the RSPCA you could face a heavy fine or possible prison sentence.

My mum had a similar problem with cats crapping in the rose beds. 30 quid for one of those sonic cat deterrants did the job. You can get them in B&Q (if you are UK based). lot less expensive than doing time for killing one
