I'm moving and am renting a cargo van. Without calling the rental company, can anyone tell me about Cargo vans? Gas mileage, automatic transmission, seats? Thanks. GM Express, Ford Econoline.

Most cargo vans that you rent will be automatic. They have two bucket seats in the front, and a cage or divider behind the seats to keep the cargo from coming forward. Depending on the van, the type of driving and the weight of the cargo, your gas mileage will be in the 12-20 MPG range.

a cargo van does not have that much room, you will probably need a larger vehicle. Most rental places have automatic transmissions and you will probably get about 8 mpg

If it is a rental they will have the auto tranny. Gas mileage, S-U-C-K-S. But hey, it's just a rental. Go over it very well, Ryder has a habit of not doing squat for maint. My buddy had 3 of them where the brakes failed.
