Is it to much to ask if you kindly kept your religion to yourself? Many Christian's claim to be "tolerant" of other religions, yet "tolerant" is not the appropriate word, why not show respect to other people's religion? You could also try to stop forcing your belief's and moral ideas upon others. Do not damn someone simply because they are doing something that you find inappropriate in your religion, wether it's assisted suicide, or abortion, or prayer in school, anything for that matter. If you could simply do this, if you could simply learn to respect other people and their religious or non-religious belief's, I think you might be surprised at how people will change their perception of YOU and YOUR religion. As evident by YA - you are simply making more people angry and hateful towards your religion, myself included. So - do you think you could do this or is it to much to ask? Or do you enjoy constantly being attacked and having people point on the errors in the bible. Thanks

A negative check? It's a sincere question and I still get a negative check? Why not explain the negative check? LOL - my point is obviously well proven.

Melody is a perfect example of what I am talking about:

God is real and so is His will. So if we want to save your soul from and eternity in hell you think we are being disrespectful. Get over yourself and find God before it's to late.

I was wrong in clasifying all Christian's like Melody - but people like Melody sure seem like the majority here and to me - she is nothing but an Extremist.

I'm a Christian. In fact, I'm a pastor. I hear you. I try to do as you have described. No problemo. I even preach from the pulpit that it's great to share your faith with someone who is interested, but, for God's sake, don't be obnoxious. Too often we forget that our faith is just that- OUR faith, no matter how much WE believe it to be true. Your point is so well taken. If many of the hyper-Christians would just chill a little and try BEING like Jesus instead of obnoxiously trying to getting others to believe in Jesus, we would be amazed at the positive response we might get. One thing I love pointing out to people is that the only people that Jesus really condemned were the hard line religious right of his own religion. He had so much compassion and just common friendship with common everyday people.

In terms of voicing our opinion in the political arena, since we believe that the moral values we share are the values that hold a society together, it's our duty, an act of love for our countrymen and our right to influence through the government system that we have what we believe is the best for this country. That causes some conflict. But, again, we can always have this kind of influence in a friendly and unobnoxious way.

Peace.

I'm a Christian yet everything that you've pointed out pisses me off about other Christians as well. And yet thats really not the right word to be using. I think the term that aggravates me and you is Fundamentalist/Evangelist. Because honestly we all know that the basic beliefs underlying most Christian denominations do not consist of going political by forcing conservative laws on people, laws based on their perception of morality. And really I never feel like shoving what I believe down other people's throats. But to put it simply, as a Christian I do agree that these fundamentalists are putting a terrible name on our religion, not unlike the extremists have been doing to the name of Islam. Thanks for listening, and hopefully you dont think all Christians are like this?

I'm a Fundamentalist Christian, but I don't go posting crap like "You're gonna go to Hell because...". If a question is asked, and it's either directed toward Christians or asking my opinion, I will answer appropriately.

I *tolerate* other religions, no matter what it is. However, by no means, do I have to *respect* them. There is a big difference. I will tolerate your 'religion' if you believe killing an innocent, in cold blood, is okay... I don't care if it's a single unborn baby, a neighboring tribe, or 3,000 adults in their workplace... but I cannot respect that 'religion'.

I love all people, but I cannot love all of people's actions. I cannot idly sit, and watch a drug user fry his brain due to drugs. I cannot idly sit, and watch a drunkard drink his life away. I cannot pretend that I don't see someone trying to commit suicide, and not stop them. It is my duty to show them that there is a better way, than self-destruction. And so it is with all evils.

Jesus said, "If the world hate you, you know that it hated me before it hated you". I seek to cause offense to none, however, if by my preaching of Christ, people hate me, then so be it.

Now, is it too much to ask for you to tolerate my religion? After all... if you don't tolerate Christianity, in a Fundamentalist form, then you have no right to ask of me to tolerate your religion. If you cannot tolerate the fact that I love all that is righteous and good, and seek to promote those concepts, then you have no right to ask me to tolerate your disdain for righteousness and goodness.

This is the "Religion & Spirituality" section of YA. Shall we be silenced in the very catagory we belong in? Where, then, shall we go to converse? Or are we forbidden to speak, whereas atheists will be free to mock us, without fear of being answered?

To put it bluntly, we are instructed by God to fulfill the great commission. This is to share the gospel (the good news) to the world. Also, if we live in a predominantly christian nation (or at least that's what people say they are), then I would expect the nation to follow the moral precepts of the Bible. That would include abortion, prayer anywhere you like, etc...

As far as respect goes, I respect your honest beliefs. However, I do not agree with them and will continue to promote my beliefs as you have and will continue to do.

we who are tolerant must be tolerant of those who are not. and if you want the respect for your Belief System then you also need to have the same respect for mine. the main difference between various Belief Systems is only in the manner their various Rituals and Ceremonies are performed and conducted. therefore I personally don't see any problem with any one individual Belief System being better than another.

You think all Christians don't respect others? have you asked a catholic person if they've rejected another? ask me and I never rejected another person's way of life...We don't make people change their religion because it's their choice in life not ours, we help them choose the right ways...if a person is doing drugs, what do you want us to do, wait till the person gets cancer? we help people, we respect them, we love them...we don't just walk around and say "Hey you! be a christian!"...you think that's appropriate, and don't you think we all know that already

Don't judge us if you haven't gotten real results on our christian faith, knowledge and beliefs...I know many non-catholic and non-religion people and I respect them, I'm friends with them because of who they are not because of tradition or religion...

If you don't want us to argue about other people's mistakes on our true religion, don't bother looking, reading or even noticing what we put because we believe in one simple thing..."God loves everyone, no matter who you are and what religion!"

Even if other catholics don't respect other religions, don't conclude ALL Christians are included in the list...

:) :) :) :) :)

You are stereotyping all Christians, which is wrong. I am Christian, and I do not shove my religion down people's throats.

Some people don't realize that it's about faith and by leading by example, not by being an a$$hole about it.
