Men are responding to Testosterone and THC (a testosterone derivative) - baldness demonstrates sexual maturity as there is a lot of testosterone in the blood. The "M" shape develops due to the amount of blood flow in the scap (some people go bald in different places, this is why). PS to spot really sexually mature men, look for bald head and full beard. Testosterone overload. I only have the M so far, not a fan of beards.

I do my husbands hair with a #6 clipper attachment on the right and a #4 on the sides and lower back, fading it in as i'm going. Its great, he looks plenty extra useful than whilst he had longer hair that became receding and he has too many scars from injuries and such to sport a bald head. attempt it. go on your salon and decide for it !

Yeah it is funny isn't it. Some guys are left with a little island like poof of hair in the centre of the head with nothing around for miles. Thank god all for shaving instead of the dreaded comeover thing form the 50's, 60's and more!

I dont know, its weird. I lost most of my hair from my head years ago, apart from a little tuft on the front.

I like to think of it as the ruins of a once great civilisation!

(I heard that line in Seinfeld, i cant take the credit)

I've been told that the follicles where the hair falls out are sensitive to dihydrotestosterone, the hormone that causes male pattern baldness.

It happens when they reach puberty. When they used to castrate choirboys to retain their high voices, they kept the same hairline as they got older,as well as the voice. The same with sumo wrestlers. I don't know why that shape is left though sorry.
