Tomatoes are a fruit, one of it's relatives is the guava.
In asia the guava is also called the tree tomato, these are cooked and served with custard or ice cream.

Fruits and vegetables are not classified by taste - they are classified by skin, seed, plant, flower, bud, etc...
However, a salad with tomatoes, grapes, black olives, pasta (rotini), cucumber, watermelon and a squirt of both lemon and orange is delicious.
