I think its more acceptable for women to do it these days - and also many women are so sick of being mistreated by men in relationships that they've changed their attitutes to - if a man can do so can I. But with women being the more manipulative of the sexes- we just do it that bit better or sneakier - whichever your preference
AS with men - the women that indulge in this kind of carry on can plant the seed of doubt in a mans mind - its a vicious circle and theres no escaping it so all I can advise you to do is keep looking and you well find a likeminded lady! Good luck!

I believe that women are still more emotional than men. There will always be more women that cry at movies, at their wedding, at a funeral, at the birth of a newborn, watching their kid got off to school, scrapbooking, and such. Just because some women seem to be unattached doesn't mean that all of a sudden women are taking over this new role. If anything, women are stronger nowadays. They know what they want and aren't afraid to go after it which probably scares guys. No longer do they appear weak so they must be unemotional is a totally lie. If you're the not guy for her, she won't waste her time on you. And as far as the "good time" goes, these women are probably filling up that empty void with that junk...so a crazy emotional problem there in itself.

This may be very true!!! Since my girlfriends usually date and if they break up there on the road again to a club that following weekend, no time or space needed while guys on the other hand ya' hang out but rather drink away the pain of losing that special someone. It s a mystery really. The thing is that men will never admit these emotional issues and women admit them but are so few and far between sometimes!!!

we live in a modern world, roles in the society has changed, men don't mind if their wives go to work, or take manly jobs, but some time ago it was different, women's job was to stay at home and to take care of the children. The fact that more and more women go out to have fun at night is because we live in a sexually free era, women can express themselves more freely. These attitudes existed in every era, but were not mentioned in history books, or in documents, because people were ashamed of it eg. prostitution is the most ancient job in history.
and what concerns the emotional part of women and men, i think that women express their feelings more openly than men, how many times have you sen a man crying and how many times have you seen a woman crying. I think that both sexes can be very emotional, eg. all the great poets were men (maybe because women had no opportunity to write poems or to study, or had other preoccupations eg taking care of kids, but that proves that men can be very emotional too. We women talk out our emotional problems, and that's why it seemed that we are more emotional. You being a man, you think that men are more emotional, because everybody knows their own sex better than the other.
as for the fact that you know more hart broken men then women, you simply know more men in your circle... everybody gets hart broken sometimes.

What a fantastic question.
Sorry, i'm a guy not a woman but looking at the answers and thinking through my own experiences. i really wanted to reply to this so please excuse me, I did.
Fundementally I agree with you.
I think the main issue for us (our set of generations...there are several on here) is that we would do well to acknowledge that there has been a change in roles and responsibilities.
Any change causes friction, we really need to be good to ourselves (both sexes) as expectations of behaviour are shifting dramatically.
Guess what happens when we don't get what we expected...upset....hence this is a good reason for the high divorce rate we have today....people don't get what they expect and get upset and seperate.
* Men have a shift in their responsibilities, we have to catch up
* Women have a shift in their responsibilities, they have to catch up
* We all have a change in expectations, which the media influences us daily.
Furthermore previous generations have some wisdom that just doesn't work in todays changing world but of course some of it does and it gets very confusing.
So going back to my main point the best we can hope to do is acknowledge the shift, try and understand it more, take it easy on ourselves and our partners and ensure that we don't take outside information and influences at point blank
We could treat these Gender Role Changes as a negative thing we have to get though or we could get excited that we are the pioneers. I know which way I would rather think !
What a fantastic question.

I think this is a very truthful statement. Women are now more accepted into the career domain that was once dominated by men, women are no longer expected to throw out kids so soon in their lives,- if at all...
So it seems only natural that with all that going on womens emotions are going to shift.
I am quite happy being single as are many women, Alot of women dont do relationships at present due to work committments or just becuase of the hassle although they may like having mens company now and again.......only ever on a temperory basis.
Some men just cant handle this!!!
Girl Power!!!

I think women are still the more emotional of the sexes. while men place a large emphasis on the physical aspect, women still have emotion weigh heavily in the equation.
I do however believe that women are now more open and free with their thoughts; are quicker to end a relationship; are less needy than in previous years; are less dependent on men to provide for them.
While many more women are out have a "good time weekends" they are still outnumbered by men. Where I'm from generally the ratio is still 2-3 guys for every lady.
I think you have confused being stonger and more independent with being less emotionally tied.

For as long as I can remember, women have always been percieved as the weaker sex, but now, as times have liberated us women, we seemed to have grown tired of that senario. I hate double standards and I despise a man who constanly thinks it's wrong for women to go out and have a good time. For some reason, society has labeled women as whores if we go out to drown our sorrows after having our hearts broken. We have learned to harden our hearts, and yes, breaking more mens hearts in the process! I refuse to stay in a relationship because"it's the right thing to do" as like our grandparents would say, so take it from me, (who has had my heart broken too many times), it's the men's turn to cry over something that could have been!

I think that with a lot of woman, it is sort of a backlash against the way they were brought up. Then, too, there are a lot of women who think the man of their dreams is in a bar someplace and they will find them if they look long and hard enough.
Men are finally becoming more allowed to be real people. I don't think they are necessarily becoming more feeling, they are just more allowed to let those feelings surface.
It really is a pretty strange situation compared to 30 years ago, and not all of it is a good thing.

sorry I'm not a woman but have an opinion on this, women have been doing the same as men for years, the reason men get their hearst broken by women more often than the other way round is when men give away their hearst they do it completely and unconditionally, women don't they arev wily little suckers, they may convince you they are totally devoted but are always on the look out for something more or better, and once they have made their mind up they want something else they are cold hard machines with no emotions.
