I learned my lasagna from my Italian brother in law.
Ingredeants:
The meat sauce:
1 kg ground beef
2 medium onions finely chopped
Parsley finely chopped
I can tomato diced
2 Tbsp turmeric (curcum)
salt and papper
3 Tbsp tomato paste
2 medium egg plants (peeled and diced)
3 cups water
Tbsp oil
The white sauce :
2 liter milk
1/2 tsp salt
1-1/2 cup flour
2-3 Tbsp butter
3 Tbsp from the meat sauce
lasagna sheets
1 pkge mozarella cheese( shredded)
Now lets cook
Fry the onions and parsley in 1 tbsp oil then and add the meat and mix well, then add the turmeric, salt, and pepper, keep stir the meat and when the color change add the water and keep it in medium high heat. Let it cook for about 20 nimutes. Meanwhile put the eggplants in 5 tbsp oil and add some salt and keep it cover in low heat and stir occationaly, when the eggplants start to get soft smash them by the spatula or something like it. Then add it to the meat . Put the tomatos with the sauce and the tomato paste and mix good. lower the heat and let cook for about 20 more minutes.Take 3 tbsp from the sauce and put it aside. ( you can prepare the meat sauce the day before and save a lot of time).
In a large pan cook the lasagna with salt and 1 tbsp butter. We are going to use 3 layers of lasagna .
Put first layer of lasagna and then add the meat sauce and on top put a very thin layer of the cheese.
Put on the second layer of the lasagna.
Now it's time to make the white sauce. Put the milk in a pan and add the salt, the butter and the four. then in medium high heat keep stirring, don't stop at all, until the sauce became thick but not to thick, add the 3 tbsp meat sauce and mix well. This will give it really good taste.
Add the white sauce on the lasagna and put the last layer of lasagna and on the very top put the shredded cheese.
Bake for 15 minutes then grill for 2-3 minuts untill the cheese get golden color.

MEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! i looooooove lasagna. and what a coincidence ur screen name is jamie, when theres that famous chef, jamie oliver! hmm, anyway, i've only tried 2 lasagnas, vegetarian and normal (which i suppose is beef lasagna). When my mum makes it, she puts beef, tomato and mushrooms in... i dont like the mushrooms tho. And meat lasagna is way better than vegetarian, cos vegetarian is just like tomato and mashed veggies and cheese stuck together!

I make my lasagna totally from scratch (fresh pasta, homade sauce, etc). The fresh ingredients and herbs give it a kick like no other! Also, I use italian sausage instead of hamburger and LOTS of mozzerella.

I use mince chicken instead of beef. I cook it together with mixed vegetables, black pepper, a dash of salt to taste, tomato puree, plenty of garlic, onion, chili and tabasco sauce. I use ordinary cheddar cheese if mozarella cheese is not available. It is yummy.

My Mum makes the best lasagne I've ever tasted. She uses lamb mince instead of beef and uses good quality egg pasta strips. She also puts loads and loads of grated medium cheddar cheese on the top so it goes all.... cheesy?
