Yes. My son is severely allergic to peanuts. But not other nuts. He had an incident at the age of two that hospitalized him for almost a week. We also carry an Epi-Pen with us at all times. Since then i have learned so much about peanut related allergies and other foods. I am currently starting a group. If you are interested please email me at:

My brother is very allergic to all nuts. He turns red all over and starts swelling up. When he was given an allergy test, he was told that he is not actually allergic to nuts but rather to the pesticide on the nuts. However, after eating some nuts without pesticide that the doctor gave him, my brother still had an allergic reaction. He has learned that the best way for him to stop the reaction when he accidentally gets a nut is to soak in a bath of Epsom salts. He has to be very careful about what he eats. Even going to Braums for Ice Cream is out of the question for him because they use the same spoons to dip all their ice cream--with nuts and without--and it will cause an allergic reaction in him.

thousands of nut allergic people out there! Please avoid all tree nuts for her (every nut but peanuts-which is really a legume) because of the high risk of cross reactivity. Tree nut allergy can be life threatening and is usually not outgrown.
there is a lot of reliable information about food allergies at a website run by the Food Allergy Network.
good luck.

a guy back in school was allergic to all kinds of nuts, so before eating anything he asked "does it have nuts in it?". don't worry about ur daughter, i think she only has to learn to be careful and live with it.

A relative of mine is so allergic to peanuts that when she first started dating she ended up in the hospital after her first kiss with her boyfriend who had eaten peanut butter before picking her up for their date.

Walnuts, make my mouth & throat swell.
It can be scary, when ever I go out to eat I have to ask if they use walnuts in the dish i'm going to order.
