Yes, I am a pessimist. It is better to hope for the best but expect the worst, it is harder to feel "let down" this way.
I am not sure if a person could go from being a pessimist to an optimist because we are shaped by our past. If you continually were exposed to negatives (like being lied to, being let down, being cheated on, etc), then it is hard to put faith and trust in other things you do not have control over like people and the surrounding environment.
Hope this helps.

I am not a pessimistic person. It would be too depressing to be pessimistic. I don't think I could survive if I were pessimistic. My husband is very pessimistic and sometimes his negativity is just so overwhelming and emotionally draining to me. I don't think a person could turn from being pessimistic to optimistic through his or her own efforts. I personally believe that it would take an act of God, through the infilling of the Holy Spirit, to change an individual from being pessimistic to optimistic. I think a person could try to become less pessimistic by working to find the good in things and by practicing writing and thinking positive thoughts, but I don't have much hope of that completely changing the individual.
Now that I go back and read what I just wrote, it sounds very pessimistic. Maybe I'm not as optimistic as I believe I am.

I am a realist. Remember that a pessimist is seldom disappointed. Those positive mental attitude people dont disappoint me - they make me sick and I anticipate it.
I wouldn't think that a pessimist could become an optimist without a stretch and an injury. Realist is more within reach.

i try to not be pessimistic because I'm kind of a catatropher girl and life is so stressful, hard, sometimes sad that if we must fight to make our life great and gladly
6 years ago i lost a cousin (18years old) by a leukaemia so i just can't be pessimistic because she fighted to live and she left.
we never should be pessimistic because life is so short
so the answer to your question is that I'm an optimistic person who always laugh making jokes even if I'm a catastropher girl!

No I'm not pessimistic... I am a very positive person. Nothing good comes from being pessimistic. As far as a pessimistic converting to opimistic, the person has to want to be that way... and change their view on things...

Very. I'm always fighting doomsday senerios in my head. Little thing like spilt milk can turn into a clue as to why my son will turn out to be a serial killer.
I wasn't always, after my baby I had the blue and 31/2 years later, they still creep in.

I hate that question!!!! I really feels it depends on the situation you are in at that moment. As for the glass of water....i see it as a half a glass of water. If a situation is happening to me i usually see the bad sides but if it is happening to someone else i try to help them see the good sides of it.
