I am claustrophobic and I've asked the doctors to give me a medicine when I get an MRI. Plus, sometimes I will get an open MRI. You can also bring in relaxing music and concentrate on that. But let me warn you, tell your doctor you are claustrophobic so they can prescribe you something, otherwise, if you move too much during your MRI b/c you are nervous, you will have to take another one, or be in there for a longer time.
Good luck.

I don't think you can get over it in a few days. But they have open MRI machines now. Ask your doctor if there is one in your area.
And seek some counselling for your fears; they can be conquered with time.

The most succesful treatment known is called "flooding" and is part of a cognitive behavioral psychology approach. I would go to a professional therapist to get that done. You can look for one with expertise on this kind of treatment on www.AABT.org .

I just lock my wife in the closet and walk away! Seriously, put yourself in a small area and do some deep breathing. But don't hyperventilate! Take it easy!
