the weather and the soil condition tomatoes need a lot of sun light and rain in between to become juicy....if your buying them they could be what they call hot house tomatoes, those which are grown as it says in a hot house..also depend on where there being shipped from and the traveling timetomatoes that have a long shipping time are sometimes picked to early ........and it could depend on the type of tomatoes some years some are better than others .

Tomatoes are a lot like grapes.. they absorb many flavors from the vegetation around them. Next year, i would suggest to you to plant your tomatoes at least 2 feet in circumference away from any other plant life or vegetation. Also when planting, it seems the trick for a huge tomato plant that produces large tasty tomatoes is in the layering of the soil. I dig a hole at least 12 inches deep (deep enough to where only a small piece of the top leaf of the tomato plant is showing), place the plant in and start layering... First layer is sand, second layer is manure and top layer is nitrogen rich top soil (Black). My plants are usually right at 6.5 feet tall and produce at least 20-30 tomatoes a plant. Largest ones come at the first of the season and are between 2-4 lbs each. It works for me, anyway :) Good luck and hope that helps ya!

Would you like the gross out or the reasoned answer?
1) Gross out. It is all the fertilizer from the bombs being exploded in war zones. Too many nitrates dropping to earth.
2) Reasoned. The weather pattern has changed and they have
ripened too quickly.
I would swear the sun is lower in the sky this year!!!
