no need to change dollars in china. take whatever us dollars you want to spend elsewhere but when you get to china you can use your check card to withdraw chinese yuan from an atm. they will allow you to withdraw $2500 yuan twice a day. that is about $365 each trip to the atm. you get a receipt for reference when you get home. also if you do this, notify your bank that you're going to china and will use your card, otherwise they might think your card was stolen and someone else is using it. easy, fast, convenient...........i've done it 3 times in the past year.

Hmmmmm, how about a bank, airport or hotel.
Are you seriously travelling all the way to China without knowing where or how to exchange money????!!!!!
Dude, pick up a guidebook, or do a little time on the web educating yourself on Chinese ways.

you can ask a chinese guy this way: "Ni3 zhi1dao4 zai4 nar3 ke3yi3 huan4 qian2 ma?" If you are asking whats with the numbers... better don't ask! Just show to a chinese guy this and he will know where to send you. If your computer can read chinese characters I give you the same question but using characters... I thing the chinese will understan it better! "你知道在哪儿可以换钱吗?" I hope you will finally find a place! Good luck! :)
