This is refuted in the historical documents.

And is as stupid as accusing Lincoln for being communist.

On 3 March 1939, the day after Pius XII's election to Pope, the Berliner Morgenpost, mouthpiece of the Nazi movement, wrote: “The election of Cardinal Pacelli is not accepted with favour in Germany because he was always opposed to Nazism.”

It's just slander and anti-catholic prejudice.

It is not only refuted by historical documents, but also by reputed historians such as American Rabbi David Dalin:

"Pius XII was not the Hitler's pope, not at all. He was among the strongest defensors of the jewish causa, at a time it was most needed... It can be read in the Talmud that 'one saving one life saves the humanity'."

Pius XII "is a great friend of Jewish, and merits to be called 'Righteous among the Nations.' He saved many of my 'brothers', more than Schindler... At least 800,000 according to some statistics."

"After the war, the chief Rabbi of Rome, Israel Zolli, went to pay homage to the Pope; Zolli converted and took the name Eugenio." (Pope Pius the XII name was Eugenio Paccelli...)

"During the months Rome was occupied by Nazis, Pius XII instructed clergy to save Jewish by all means. Archbishop of Genova saved alone 800, bishop of Assisi, 300. When Archbishop Palazzini became a 'Righteous among the Nations.' he stated "the merit entirely belongs to Pius XII who instructed us to do all we could to save as many Jewish as possible..."

Pius XII's help to the Jewish community was so famous, that while celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Italian liberation in 1955, the Jewish Community Union proclamed April, 17th "gratefulness day" for the assistance of Pope Piux XII to the Jewish community during WWII...

and so on... it speaks for itself...

So it is really pityfull to see such a poor urban legend being carried on like this.

I find it odd though, that later, he didn't seem to do too much about what was going on in Germany. Seems he did know his own people were hiding nazi's in their churches there. Which would lead one to believe that he simply ignored it all together. Or maybe, just didn't care so long as the nazi's left him alone?

As for anti-catholic prejudice, well, the church has done many things and has allowed many things to go on that the prejudice towards it, at times, is well-deserved.

hmmm, well it has been proven that american catholic priests are pedophile collaborators...is it such a stretch of the imagination to believe a pope would kiss nazi butt to protect his own butt, and the butt of the church?
