just put them together, let them smell each other up, they will be fine. the puppy will want to play all the time, the older lab won't, don't worry thought, he'll let the puppy know when he's had enough. just let them be together, it will be fine. Good Luck.

The easiest way to do this is with a crate. Put the pup in the crate and let the 10 year old run around, getting used to the pup this way. You can also switch and put the 10 year old in the crate with the pup outside of it. Gradually introduce them together, keeping a watch on the pup to make sure your older dog doesn't hurt it. You probably won't have any problems with this age difference. Just take the introductions slow.

I breed and show labs, I have 4 of them. One of the eldest has bad arthritis, the youngest is now 8 months old.
The only way to stop any bad feelings is to allow the older one some peace, time away from the puppy.
Give the puppy plenty of toys to play with, especially chew toys.
Give plenty of time out for the older dog. If you hear grizzling from the older dog then let it be, it is the older dogs way of telling puppy to behave. If it is more than grizzling and full on barring of teeth/growling then separate immediately, older dog has had enough.
As the pup grows, it will mature and accept the older dogs patience level, they should end up good mates.
Always remember to pet the older dog just as much as the younger one. Jealousy can occur.

Ensure that the older gets due attention and respect as he is the top dog of the house, avoid excessive petting and loving of the younger one in front of the elder, soon with time the pup will understand his place.

Give them each their own time alone but also most important is for them to bond as soon as possible. I wouldn't leave the wee one alone with older dog till they have became friends and don't allow pup to be annoying. They'll love each other. Labs are great dogs.

You shouldn't have clashes. But,, they will establish their pecking orfer between themselves and you should allow them to do that. It might look to you like they are in a fight, but they are not. The moment that the pup submits, the older dog will stop. It is very uncommon for either dog to get hurt.

You really can't . You just have to let your older dog get used to the puppy. Since you dog is 10 it is going to be a little intolerant of your puppy for a while. In time things with settle down and it will be fine, it just takes a little while. I went through this, trust me, the older one will eventually accept the change.

Let them interact with one another. Make sure that you keep an eye on them at meal times if you feed them together.Just remember that your pup will learn from your older dog .
