I'm all for sticking up for you at the moment, because I think the amount of shite being dished your way is unfair. But Agent86's post has made me think.... although he hasn't asked the question, so I will...... So my question is:
Why don't the moderate Muslims make more of an effort to condemn these terrorists that are committing terrible atrocities across the world in the name of Allah.... (I don't believe these men/women who do this to be Muslim or have any God).
Or do your faith leaders condemn and protest loudly, but the Western media just simply doesn't report it or provide them with a loud enough voice?

Yeah Well...I'm not grouping all Muslims together, the majority of the posters on these boards brand them all as terrorists, someone provoked a little thought in my head earlier and I felt that I had to ask the question to the Muslim community... shame so many non-Muslims seemed to jump on the band wagon.

The Chronicle... I don't mean to be antagonistic toward Muslims with this post... I want to stand with them, not against them. Someone else, where I posted before got me thinking about this, that's all and I felt that I had to ask.... my suspicion like so many others that have answered is that the media gives positive actions very little airtime, which is just wrong.

A very good question. Most Muslims don't agree with the fanatics and do condemn their actions. You have answered you're own question by stating that the media will only report that which they want you to see. The issue is that most people are thinking the following... we do not believe in what these fanatics believe in. If we have done nothing wrong why should be protest. It seems that even when you don't do anything you will still be blamed for it. You may email me if you wish me to go into this further. I don't think we need the odd sympathiser to 'stick up for as' as you state, because it is plain to see, who is in the right and who is in the wrong. You can see in the media that these groups of people are commiting these atrocities, but if you compare all this to what 1 american man has done, you will see the reality. Bush has done worse 100 times over, but because he 'owns' the media you won't see that. Its hidden away. At the end of the day we will all support whom we will, but the truth is only available to those who search for it. I hope that you become guided. PS. The people who commit suicide in the name of Islam are not muslim, because Islam does not allow suicide.

My goodness. How antagonistic you seem to be.
Anyway, for the Q:
I see Muslims standing up and fighting terrorism everyday.
In person, in the media, in here...
What do you think a good chunk of all the fighting going on over there is about?
How much more do you expect?
I mean, say a bad man, your neighbor or brother or son, is holding a gun to your head, is standing with a bomb in your child's class room, and someone on the other side of the world tells you to fight!
Go on!
What are you waiting for?!
FIGHT!
You are a coward if you don't!
Pick up that stick!
Attack that AK-47 with your pocket full of stones!
FIGHT!!!!
It's easy to be couch potato warriors.
As for those of us here in the west, we have rallied, we have knocked a couple of terroriests on their back sides, we have given just about everything we can that has been asked for.
The only thing we haven't done against terrorism is throw our own country into war.
I always thought it was funny how folks back there condemn us for not helping and turn around and condemn us for helping.
And somehow, though here in the West we watch the news reports on how brave and horoic Iraq Muslims are, standing against such odds as the terrorist hit them with, how our newspapers praise the doctors who go to work every day in bagdag even under constant threat of death, how our soilders write home that they have fallen in love with these people and learning so much from them...
Some how your media reports to you that we hate you all.
Yea, the media is twisted, always has been, always will be. But don't think it's all on the Western side. That's just plain ignorance.
The Chronicler
A Baha'i,
which, by progressive revelation, makes me also Muslim, Christian, Jew....
kinda funny that no one ever talks about the Baha'i slaughters and like abuses from many arabic goverments such as Iran.

u answered the question urself
media creates such a hype when there is a Muslim involved in the midst of a terrorist attack (Even in-directly), but don't portray the voices of majority of Muslims, who condemns such acts. if u want to see the condemnation, go to a Mosque (which media doesn't cover), go and ask any Muslim out there (media will never raise these voices) 'coz they speak against such attacks. media is only going to show u those ppl which celebrate the terrorist attacks and paint the whole of Muslim Community with the same brush. do u remember cnn showed palestineans celebrating the 911 attack? well, guess what, that was a movie from their old archives, and they delibrately broadcasted these videos, to give the image that all Muslims support these attacks. i for One Muslim amongst the 98% of other Muslims Condemns the 911 attack, or any other terrorist attack on civilians for this matter. Peace to All.

I was reading the newspaper today and I am amazed that most of the articles are against the Western war against Islam led by America. Most of the 1.5 billion Muslims today are silent because we don't see the Western citizens in America and Britain (In addition to Europe) take any action against their leaders (Bush and Blair) to stop their crimes against innocent Muslims in our land. Why you don't demonstrate to stop the war against Islam (named war against terrorism) ad withdraw your troops from our land, you already destroyed two countries. In the newspaper today it is mentioned that in the last 5 years more than 180000 Muslims were been killed by America, more than 5 million were forced to leave their homes, and the budget of this war is sky high (this year US defense budget is around half trillion dollars!! all to kill Muslims). Then you ask why Muslims don't condemn terrorist attacks (done in revenge of your war against Islam). Yesterday in Canada there was a massacre in a school by a man who was killed, I think he was not a Muslim so no body mentioned any thing about religion (i.e.: Christian terrorism) but if he was a Muslim the Media will publish the story in the front pages and on TV show for at least a month, what a bias and a shame!

Well yes we do need to expose these people as a community, and yes mass protests, i personally believe, are needed, as they are hijacking our religion. but you know mass protests have occurred.....in Jordan and throughout the middle east there have been massive protest involving muslim leaders, the everyday person and even middle eastern royalty condemning acts of terror. In the West protests have occurred also, i have been part of them myself and no the media does not report them becuase the story is not as juicy as one of muslim extremists and big, bad Muslims wanting to blow up your local city. Sometimes Muslims don;t protest because they feel it is fruitless, i mean, look how much Muslims on this site try to dissociate the religion with terrorism and say how much they hate the terrorists and look at all the sh*t we still cop and all the ignorance that still goes on here, people believe what they want to believe sometimes.
But yes, i do think that western Muslims do need to condemn more the actions of the terrorist through more protests and through media channels than what has been occurring, although it has been occurring.

The Fiqh Council of North America issued a fatwa against terrorism in 2005 which was endorsed by the Council on American - Islamic Relations, by The Islamic Society of North America, and by other 120 U.S. Muslim groups, leaders and institutions.
This is just one of many examples of Muslims fighting against terrorism.
You can read the text of the fatwa in this article:

hi there!
i really appreciate your concern, however i wanna let you know that WE do speak out against Terrorism. i answered this question many times.
any ways, we do speak out against Terrorism though, ALL across the globe Muslims demonstrate against Terrorism, hundreds of demonstrations in the US since 9/11 condemning terrorism, hundreds of conferences held in the to speak against terrorism even in the middle east which people think that the Arabs support terrorism, the Arabs flooded the streets on many occasions to condemn terrorism all over the world.
thousands of websites that speak against terrorism, and ALL from Islamic view points.
we scream out loud that AlQaida does not represent us. and we dont consider them Muslims at all the second they hurt an innocent life.
the problem is that the media will NEVER show these things on TV, they wanna demonize Muslims and Islams so people would hate us and when they hate us they wont feel bad for us when they kill the lot of us from Afghanistan to Lebanon.
if they were to show the real picture of Islam i guarantee you people will actually convert to Islam not only sympathize for us.

It's not a Muslim thing. What about all the 'good ole boys' in the US that raised millions of dollars for the IRA before terrorism became unfashionable over there on Sept. 11th, 2001.

Larry M above me, a liar, as all others misquotes the quran once again. I think it makes them feel more secure in their religion.
Quran 005.033
"The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;
so its a punishment for those who wage war against muslims, commit crimes eg killing, stealing (muslim or not)..etc. stark difference.
Furhtermore, next verse says.
Quran 005.034
Except for those who repent before they fall into your power: in that case, know that Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
precisely the shite you are talking about.
Ponder this, why do people have to lie to attack islam.
As to your question:
A lot of them do speak out against it, it's just not news worthy. When someone says kill all the infidels that is more news worthy. After all they have ratings to keep up.

Maybe the supporters of these terrorist scum should be treated in the same way, after all, it could be regarded as treason. If the so-called moderates DO support the terror movement, then they too are terrorists and should be imprisoned or shot. The rest might then be able to get on with their lives unmolested. If Allah (or his alter ego Mohommed) really approve this behaviour in their ethical stance and teachings, the religion should be proscribed in all civilised countries.
