In nutrition, the diet is the sum of the food consumed by an organism. Proper nutrition for a human requires vitamins, minerals, proteins, and fuel in the form of carbohydrates and fats. Imbalances between the consumed fuels and expended energy results in either starvation or excessive reserves of adipose tissue, or body fat. Poor intake of various vitamins and minerals can lead to diseases like scurvy or iodine deficiency.

A particular diet may be chosen to seek weight gain, weight loss, sports training, cario-vascular health, avoidance of cancers, food allergies and for other reasons. Changing the subject's dietary intake or going on a diet can change the energy balance and increase or decrease the amount of fat stored by the body. Some foods are specifically recommended, or even altered, for conformity to the requirements of a particular diet. Foods intended to help produce weight loss are frequently labeled "diet foods".

Some cultures and religions have restrictions concerning what foods are acceptable in a diet. For example, only Kosher foods are permitted by Judaism, and Halal/Haram foods by the islam, in the diet of believers. In addition, different countries from region to region, have different characteristics. For instance, Americans eat more red meat than people in most other countries, and Japanese eat more fish and rice. Rice and beans are typical parts of a diet in Latin-American countries, while lentils and pita bread are typical in the middle east.

There are fat vegetarian also. It's depend on how much you eat and what you eat inside. Vegetarian is more healthy compare to those who eat a lot of meat(acidic food).

What do you mean slim? There are people with slim body but many of them are not healthy. No need to become slim like model, just be yourself and keep good diet and have a good & healthy body.

I do have some alternative medication (nutritional supplement & therapies) may help to prevention and maintaining good health. I can recommend some if you need it. It's safe and natural. you can email me to know more.

It is very possible but like someone said above, it depends on what you eat on the side line. If its unhealthy then you might as well not be vegiterian.

My advice for you is to maintain eating normally(not be a vegiterian) because its hard to obtain certain nutrients from only vegtable, eg. protein. Some vegtables do contain protein but theres only so much of it .

If you really have a year to lose weight, why not do it the proper way? Eat healthy, wholesome meals daily and exercise. You will be better off that way cause you would be living a healthy lifestyle and making it a habit to eat well and exercise. You have nothing to lose but calories.

Thats the basic understanding of things. Theres so many other things to consider when you take actions like being a vegiterian. Consult a doctor or a nutritionist if you dont get your answer here.

Hope it works out for you !

not necessarily. You could eat Twinkies and Snicker's bars all day and drink Coke, never touching meat, and gain weight. It's the number of calories that is important!
