I don't hate Wiccans at all. I just have an opinion on it that's unpopular with Wiccans. They can't seem to grasp the fact someone can be a Wiccan in their youth and leave it when they get a little older for Christianity (and yes, I know Schnoebellen's a fake). I have an opinion about it, and I don't see why I shouldn't voice it. People have a right to accept or reject it. It's called freedom of thought.
As for Christians and the word "witch", Wiccans call themselves witches, and so do most Satanists, you can see where the confusion would arise. The word witch has had a nefarious meaning for centuries, and it has a negative connotation in every language. You could call yourself a Pagan, but many Christians might recall the 3 million estimated Christians that died during the Roman persecution. (I call it "The Lion Times").
And if you want people to think you're not a Satanist, you might want to change that handle of yours. "Demon Hybrid"? That doesn't sound very Wiccan.
And I don't hate you! Why can't people freely exchange ideas and not be accused of hating one another??? If people only want opinions they agree with they should just talk to themselves! LOL!
I can understand if you don't like the Christians that say things like "You better repent of this devil worship! John 3:16! Yak,yak,yak..." Frankly, I don't like their style either.
But, that's what happens when you have an exchange of ideas.

I as a Christian don't like it because alot of the things that people in Wicca do ( I had a co- worker who's into Wicca) are NOT biblical. Plus it's freaky, why would anyone want to contact the DEAD ? ! She did that @ her wedding & I thought it was just too STRANGE . Plus her wedding ceremony had parts in it that were mocking the death of Jesus . How could you mock the death of someone who lived his life to die for your sins ?
Pagens may not worship satan , but some of the things
they do seem to draw out satan & evil .
To each their own, I hold nothing against you I just
think that Wicca is wrong .
P.S. I only went to her wedding to show respect for her & let her know I still care about her even though I don''t
agree w/ Wicca .

Because many just blindly believe what they have been told, never questioning, as they have been taught not to. It's easier to be told your opinion then to develop it yourself. They they fear anything they don't understand, as they have been taught. Satan is a Christian demon made-up to keep the "believers" on the path the Church wants by scaring them all with eternal damnation, and the Church is the only one that can save them. It's classic "create a monster then claim you are the only one that can protect everyone against it." Some fundementalist Christian denominations will tell their flock that anything not Christian is of the Devil's handywork, and for those that follow them, blind obedience is easier then introspection and self-evaluation. And it's not just Christians, other western religions such as Islam feels the same way. Why do you think the Crusades (Christians vs Muslims) are still going on after 1,000 years. Both sides think theirs is the only way and will not give an inch to say "you know, your way is right for you and our way is right for us. Lets all get a sandwich." :-)

I don't think that they hate our beliefs so much as they just want us to find (in their eyes) salvation, is all. They're trying to do what they perceive as the right thing. Or at least, many of them are.
Bear in mind that many people condem us without truly understanding what we are or what we do. The only thing they know about Wicca is what others have told them (which is not always accurate) and the picture painted by the media (which is almost always hyped).
And the problem is not helped by many Wiccans, who are very quick to judge in return. I know many Wiccans whose slogan seems to be, "Remember the burning times!" Hah, as if any of them could.
Myself, if someone doesn't agree with my view, I try to explain it in rational terms. If they still can't accept it, I walk away. The only time I feel the need to fight back is when my beliefs are slandered and attacked.
Maybe all of us (Wiccans, Christians, Muslims, etc.) need to be a little more accepting of one another and understand that your path is the right one for you, but not necessarily for someone else. Instead of accusing someone of hating your religion, why not try to clarify it for them, so that at least they understand it better?

One thing I have learnt is that no matter what religion you are there will be someone who hates you for it. Reading over forums like this just makes me realise what a terrible state the world is in if people can hate based on someones religious beliefs.
Wicca is a beautiful religion with a wonderful environmental ethic. If people learn anything for wicca I hope it would be the respect for the Earth. After all, we need her to survive!
Just a note for those of you who think magic is evil... Just one thought... If you showed an electic torch to someone 1000years ago, they would have thought that was magic. Magic is simply and act of will using means not (currently) understood by science. If you remove gods/demons/spirits etc from the equation and just look at the deffinition, you will see that you do more magic in your day to day life than you think :)

It's a verrrry old prejudice, that many Christians, to their credit, have now out-evolved. But in the early days of Christianity, the religion was fighting both to survive and to spread, and it encountered many different races who had pagan beliefs. To establish Christianity, certain things had to be discouraged, indeed openly labelled as 'evil'. So all the pagan gods were translated into demons, and luckily, gods like Pan (representing of course among other things, sex, fertility and nature) looked close enough to the 'cloven-hooved' Devil character that was the bad guy of the New Testament, and in whose physical existence they firmly believed. So firstly, communing with any nature-gods, any other gods than the Christian ones, was pronounced as communication with the forces of evil, and the 'Devil' was pronounced at having lead the pagans away from the truth of this new Christian religion.
So, all paganism, and wicca particularly, were categorised as 'Devil Worship'...even though as you say, pagans don't actually believe in the Devil...
Nowadays, many Christians accept the pragmatic nature of the way paganism and Devil worship came to be linked, and as you've heard here, many actually respect pagans as a generally non-proselysing people. However, there are still those who believe absolutely that their religion is the only path to enlightenment and salvation, and to them it seems we are still in need of their faith if we are not to fall prey to their Devil. It's quaint, but one need not pay too much attention to it.
Blessed be.

Well, to explain it in the simplest terms, Christians basically believe that worshiping anything but their deity is de facto devil worship. I honestly can't understand why a thinking human being would worship anything at all, to be honest, Wiccans included. But to each his/her own.

I know I've said this a few times, but I think it holds true, people fear/hate what they do not understand, and those same people are usually too narrow-minded to try and seek the truth.
