Hypocritical is what Muslims are demonstrating.
Don’t you see the irony in Muslims being able to desecrate a Christian Temple in Jerusalem by spreading feces on images of Christ? But a Christian leader (the Pope) can’t remind people of what 14th century Byzantine emperor Manuel Paleolous II said about the profit Mohammad several hundred years ago. It wasn’t even the Popes own words or thought. He was repeating what Paleolous II supposedly said. . What’s with the hypersensitivity anyway?
The Muslims can dance in the streets; shout and yell; raise their fists all they want to but I do not believe the Pope owes Muslims an apology for anything.
Some have contended the terrorists are a form of radical Islam and a small minority of the faith. They say the large majority of Muslims are a peaceful people. I am beginning to wonder about these claims when I see the reported millions in the streets protesting what the Pope repeated.
Two faced or what? Is Islam a peaceful religion or a violence based religion? By what I am seeing and hearing, I would have to conclude the latter.

Christianity (at least the mainstream denominations like most Protestant Churches and the Catholic Church) no longer goes about making violent conversions to people...missionaries rarely if at all do such stupidity nowdays.
The Catholic Church (especially under Pope John Paul II) has already asked forgiveness and admitted its faults for many crimes which the Church in its arrogance and blindness has committed such as the Inquisition and the Crusades.
As for the current pope...this is extremely debatable...and must be tackled with rationality and poise...we do not need any reasons to kill each other now do we....

The Pope just quoted an ancient text. It was not his opinion to say that Mohammed never did anything good.
"In Tuesday's speech at the University of Regensburg the Pope said that the emperor referred to Mohammad's actions as "evil and inhuman".
The Pope made a point of saying "I quote" during his speech in order to distance himself from the sentiment but that has not stopped Islamic officials from questioning his wisdom."

Yes the pope was hypocrictical.
does none of the islamophobics on yahoo know any history?
One of the worlds most horrendous acts of violence was done by Christians. IT was called the crusades and they massacred thousands of innocent people, in some cases whole cities were wiped out. They killed them purely on the basis that they were not christian.
Christians in general, should not go around bashing muslims, for islam teaches respect for jesus.
Mohammed was not a violent man, in those days violence was rife and it was mohammed who taught understanding of other religions.

So! It seems that the Muslim/Islam people can say that the Christian/Catholic faith is wrong and they should be put to the sword along with the Israeli`s and all other non-believers.
But, boy oh boy, if anyone says anything to upset their faith the childish Muslim/Islam people go mad running around swearing retribution and threats of revenge.
Don`t these childish people realise that they are NOT the only faith in the world.
What the Pope said, was said and it should end there ffs.
How many times have we witnessed/read on the media the Muslim/Islam faith people ridiculing other faiths? nothing is said then, no-one threatens to burn and behead their people.
I think it`s time for these childish fools to "GROW UP!"
:-(

the only thing I can think of to possibly defend the man who consdiers himself a man of God is that perhaps he had a language barrier and was not cognizant of how polarizing his statement would be.......but I'm being overly optomistic perhaps. The Catholics who take their faith seriously that I haveI known personally have been generally gentle kind charitable to the poor and non bigoted towards others but maybe that's not the feeling I get reading Popes speech.

They called themselves Christians but they carried the cross or a symbol of the cross.
True Christians does not observe the cross as a sacred thing.... infact we associate the cross with the death of Christ.
It was the Catholics that did the so called Christianity crusades and the Spanish inquisition.
No I'm not bashing Catholics just trying to clarify things.
