I would like to learn a trade from home as I work 4 days a week and have 2 babies under the age of 2, so it's hard for me to go back to college

Hi there,

I have done a nail technician course, only I did do mine at college for 2 hours a week (eve), but I did also purchase the Essential Nails Kit too, which is actually very good, it is almost the same as what you would do in college, but you just have to send your nail designs and papers off.

The best thing about it is, the Hand arm, oh, its really good when doing the nail art element.

Go for it, I really enjoyed this course. I also done, Manicure and Pedicure, Extensions and Nail Art.

I know it is expensive, so before you buy, keep your eye on ebay, as I got a full set unopened for £200.00 and it should have been £350.00. You will probably get it cheaper now though. Be absolutely sure you want to do this as its a lot of expense to not continue with nails. I bought hundreds of pounds worth of stuff and it is just in boxes now, as I have done nothing for a long time.

All the best.

Hello, I used to work for Association of Nail Technicians. ANT. I can tell you that Essential nails is a good system, and respected in the industry. I do though recommend that once you complete it and find that you are good with nails, you should do your NVQ, I think this may soon become a legal requirement. Have you been on the Nail Geek website?
www.thenailgeek.com

It has some of the most respected Nail Tech's on there and they can offer really good advice on systems, and companies to use.
Being a nail tech is a good career, I have really enjoyed it, and the industry is very friendly. The possibilities are endless once you have trained.
Good luck, from a nail tech to hopefully a new one!
